Does this basket last long?

I’ve had my baskets since last year, no problem. They are used in my closet for storage, so they’re stored on a shelf.

Will this stand rigid really well on its own when empty?

No it won't. It just collapses - even if it is partially full. I don't like them.

Can this basket stay rigid when it's empty?

Yes, this basket comes with a hardboard in the bottom so it can stand rigid and stay its shape. But if you’re looking for a rigid basket from all sides, you should buy same brand's hard-sided sturdy fabric bins because it has hardboards on all sides. I have both and personally like this squishy basket because it brings back the shape even my kids squish them.
