Great Stethoscope Greater Price
This is a very nice stethoscope, I'm a nursing student and I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a stethoscope. I went back and forth for weeks debating on whether I should get this one or a more expensive one. Finally I made the decision to purchase this one and I'm glad I did! This is a good purchase. Many of the other girls in my class purchased the same one and are very pleased. Don't be fooled by those higher prices this is a GOOD deal.

Ear pieces fit perfect, breath sounds are distinct and clear
I am a Respiratory Therapist with over 38 years experience and this stethoscope is spot on. Ear pieces fit perfect, breath sounds are distinct and clear. You can fold it up and stuff it into a cargo pocket on your scrub pants. Tubing has just the right flexibility, not stiff or flimsy. Extra replacement pieces are a plus. definitely would buy this again if needed or as a gift to someone in the healthcare field.

Can you hear me now?
My husband is currently in fire Academy and has already completed EMT. Next will be paramedic. He first bought a cheap pair to just cause that's what he does. I bought these as a gift because if he's going to be helping others he needs a quality pair to do so! He loves them and says they were the nicest in his class. One con: a bit on the heavy side.

A big plus being all black and easily cleanable.
Saved me...or maybe my patients many a time. I prefer it to the Cardiology 2 that I have. Small bell for pediatrics or other applications. A big plus being all black and easily cleanable.

MDF Sprague (MDF767-BO) Black Only (so far) Stethoscope
I ordered this as a gift for my son who will soon be graduating from our local fire academy, so this item is not for my personal use. I did open the box to remove the name tag so that I could have some special engraving done for it. I ordered this Sprague because I used one while in the military serving as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. I was impressed with the design's ability to pick up sounds that I was unable to hear with the typical military issue 'scopes. In addition, most of the physicians I worked with were also using Spragues at the time, and they highly recommended them to me. While the 'scope became a great tool for me, I was always reminded that what was between the earpieces was the greatest tool I had. So it was with great anticipation that I opened the box to see what the MDF folks had wrought. The instrument was delivered quickly and with no damage to the packaging. Initially, I liked what I saw. The 'scope came with all accessories that were advertised, and the 'scope was longer than I thought it would be. This will be advantageous in many of the medical situations my son finds himself. The name tag looks to be of the size that legibility is large enough to easily discern, but small enough that it should not snag on his turnout gear. There are 3 adjustable tubing holders that should prevent, or at least adequately reduce artifact during auscultation. The bells turn and lock into their detents with no problems noted. The metal tubing for the earpieces seem tight, but still allow significant flexibility and should provide some comfort if longer wear periods become necessary. OK, the bad (sort of): I ordered the MDF767-BO (black only) model, and upon removing the 'scope from the box noticed that the black coating (paint ?! ) on the spring had already started to come off. There were several minor spots noted, but there should not have been any on a new instrument. There didn't appear to be any primer applied, and the substrate looks like brass (It was gold-colored.). What was amazing - at least to me - was that the coating looked like paint when it should have been either powder coated or possibly anodized. If the coating starts coming off the substrate during packing and shipping, I can only imagine what the 'scope might look like after several EMT/fire responses. I think manufacturing (materials choices and processes) and quality assurance may need some improvement. That's why I can't give this item 5 stars.

Quality stethoscope
I am a registered nurse and I bought this product hoping to find nice value in a stethoscope for work. I was using a Littman Cardiology stethoscope prior to this. The sound quality is not as high as the Littman Cardiology stethoscope, but that was to be expected. The sound quality is pretty good however. It is definitely better than the cheap generic stethoscopes. I would say this is an adequate work stethoscope for $40. I keep the more expensive Littman in my work bag in case I ever find a situation where I do need to use it, but have been using this as my daily stethoscope without any problems so far.

Great stethoscope for EMS first responders
Great stethoscope for EMS first responders. Honestly I bought it because the all-black design stood out and it won't get lost among the other scopes bouncing around the ambulance. Speaking of use in an ambulance, the ear tips are soft like Skullcandy earbuds. They are super comfy, but more importantly you can get a great seal and block out ambient noise. I'm not a cardiologist and can't testify to their usefulness in assessing more than BP and lung sounds, but for the price you can't go wrong. I would wager that the clarity I get would go a long way if you need something more. 100x better than the standard issue sprague styles I've had experience with!

Decent
Quality is about what I would expect for a stethoscope of this price. If this is all you can afford, then it is definitely decent--you can hear heart sounds, breath sounds, you have both bell and diaphragm, and the pediatric size is just right. There is too much noise from the dual tubing; I had a HP Sprague-Rappoport decades ago when I first started and I was hoping this would be similar. It's similar but nowhere near as good, but as I said, if this is all you can afford it works well. I can't speak to durability as I've only had it a short time.

You need to twist it to make it work
Once I realized you need to twist it round to work having thought I'd gone deaf ! It worked a treat. It's not the more expensive one but for someone who leaves mine lying around it was well worth the price. In fact, a couple of other doctors have used it and have subsequently gone on to purchase
