Rod broke after several uses. (Sent a new rod and works great)
Was a decent rod until till it broke on a cast. I wanted to try and get a few more feet on my cast to get my jig a little further so I cast it really hard but when I did, it broke right in the middle. Frustrating because it was a great size and felt really good. Update…..KastKing reached out to me and offered a replacement. The customer service was great and I have to change the review to 5 stars because I received a new rod in the mail and it seems to be solid.

Great backpacking rod
Combined with kastking reel for lightweight backpacking set up. Works decently and with 4# test can cast a trout magnet 10-15 meters. Not as light as a reel-free set-up, but just as long as my tenkara set and doesn’t need room for a backcast. Incidentally, I caught a 6” rainbow on my first cast. First rod I got came with broken eyelet that was promptly replaced -Looked like it was crushed at some point. Overall a decent little small river/pond backcountry set up. I also toss it in my car when there is a potential for fishing and it keeps well there too.

1st rod was fine, 2nd broke immediately
I purchased this rod a year ago and it served it's purpose and work more or less as expected over thousands of casts. I eventually broke an eyelet due to rough handling, then lost that segment and needed to replace. The replacement broke on the second cast when setting the hook (on a stump). I was running light line and the drag was set appropriately. I'm not sure if the product changed, or there is heavy inconsistency. I can't recommend this unless you are ok knowing some times you will get a dud.

Does the job & very compact.
Caught trout on this all day long. I paired it with a 500 centron kast king for an ultra lite backpacking combo. The only issue is lining up the eye’s. There should be a guideline. For the price, weight, and size it’s worth it to have a rod that can go anywhere in the world.

Compact Quality and Great Value!
I ordered the 5'6" Light rod and it arrived in a couple of days. Upon taking it out of the box I was very pleased to see that the quality was much higher than what I had expected and seen on other telescopic rods in my local big box stores. The grip and reel seat feel very solid and comfortable in hand. There is a protective cap included that provides good protection for the smaller eyes at the end of the rod and will make me more comfortable traveling with it. Telescopic rods sometimes feel stiffer and less responsive than a single blank, but I think this will be great for smaller to mid sized fish. I plan to take this rod trout fishing over the next two weeks and will provide updates as needed, but so far I'm impressed!

Surprised at how nice it is !
Kastking compass telescoping spinning rod 5'6" med/fast (light) tip. It is well made with good materials. This was purchased for small streams and ponds in two specific ways. 1. To carry on the Kastking "Blowback" tackle bag. 2. Casual kayak fishing. First. I wanted a "kit" that I could easily pick up and walk with. I want to walk/hike/backpack to remote fishing spots. This rod fits nicely on the side of Blowback pack. It compresses down to a very convient length and does not get tangled on branches. Second. On the kayak it is just the right length to handle easily. How does it fish? It fishes very well! First a word of caution. If you mismatch the rod & reel it will not function correctly. Some reviews downgrade products when the problem is the wrong set up. Ok, enough lecturing. I have a reel the matches the rod. It is a pleasure to cast! I have no problem making effortless casts with 1/8 - 3/8 oz lures 50-75 feet. Distance means nothing without accurate lure placement. I can put the lure where I want it. This rod was not purchased for big bass fishing. It is for smaller fish. How does it handle a fish? This morning I caught a largemouth bass and a pumpkinseed. The tip is responsive. I can feel the lure's action and fish strikes. The butt section is strong enough to set the hook and keep the fishes head up. I had no trouble bringing in the fish. This rod feels as nice as my "expensive" ones. I am impressed! It is great fun to use.

Works great. I use it on my motorcycle.
This is a pretty good teloscopic fishing rod.I have used it several times and it seems to hold up well and is actually pretty sensitive, for what it is. Great for Packing on my motorcycle.

Dead feel. good for travels
bought the light action, This by all sensitivity purposes is a medium action rod, with ultra light action strength. too weak to confidently reel in fish over 3lbs, to dull of a feel to detect fish nibble on bait under 12" in long. brought in a 14" large mouth last night, and I thought it was going to break the rod. it didn't. but it bent over WAY too much for my taste. Could not feel the swim-pulse of the Rapala 9mm jointed floater. Nor could you feel the water tension-pop on a 3" popper. nothing, you better be a visual hook-setter because you ain't gonna feel no fish under 12" hit this casually. Slam hits only.
