Exceptional quality and reliable 4K security! Highly Recommended!
I have nothing but praise for Reolink. I purchased this Reolink 4K PoE CCTV 6-camera system (RLK8-800B6) back in December. I had never used a Reolink system before and was a little nervous about moving away from my old setup. It was not cheap, and spending that much on a CCTV system felt nerve-racking at first. After weeks of research, reading reviews, and going back and forth, I finally decided to take the plunge and give it a try. I am so glad I did. I have had this system for almost a year now, and it has been nothing short of incredible. From the moment the box arrived, I could tell it was going to be high quality. Delivery was fast, and the packaging was excellent, with everything neatly organised and well protected inside. Each camera was individually bagged and secured within tough polystyrene supports to prevent any movement or damage during transit, and the NVR was also enclosed in its own reinforced section to keep it safe. Small components were carefully bagged and cables tied. It is clear that Reolink take real pride in presentation and protection. The build quality immediately stood out. The cameras are beautifully designed, solid, and made of metal with a smooth white powder coating that feels genuinely built to last. They have a reassuring weight and look sleek and professional once installed. The lenses are large and provide a broad viewing angle. I cannot believe how much more of my front and back gardens are now covered. The lenses are clean, and the red LEDs around them add a nice finishing touch at night. The red IR lights act as a visible deterrent too, which I appreciate. Everything needed to get started is included in the box, making it simple for someone setting it up for the first time. Installation was surprisingly straightforward. I used CAT6 cables for the PoE connection, which means one cable powers each camera and transmits the data, so there are no messy separate power cables. It really is a plug-and-play system: just connect one end to the camera, the other to the NVR, and within seconds the feed appears live on screen. From there, you can adjust all your settings and preferences easily. The Reolink app is excellent, well designed, stable, and full of useful options. It is available on both Android and Apple iOS, and I love how everyone in my household can access the system on their phones. Once you have paid the initial cost for the system, that is it. There are no hidden costs and, most importantly, no subscription fees for using the features. You can still pay for cloud storage if you prefer to save your data to the cloud instead of locally to the NVR. In terms of performance, it is outstanding. The clarity of the 4K Ultra HD video (8MP) is brilliant, crisp, sharp, and full of detail. The difference compared to my old system is night and day. Even the night vision performance blew me away; I can see right to the end of my garden in complete darkness, and faces and number plates are clear even at a distance. The NVR itself is compact and quiet, and the 2TB hard drive records continuously without issue. Playback works great both on a monitor and via the mobile app. The smart detection feature that distinguishes between people and vehicles is very useful, as it cuts down dramatically on false alerts from passing cats or moving branches. You can also customise motion zones and privacy masks to block out areas like neighbours’ gardens. Reliability has been flawless since day one. The system runs consistently without crashing or losing connection, and the metal housings and cables are clearly made to withstand the weather. I have even tested longer cable runs, around 50 metres of Cat 7, with no issues at all. Value for money is excellent when you consider the quality and performance you are getting. My only minor gripe is that the included cables could be longer depending on your layout, but that is easily solved. The system is expandable too, and I have since added two more Reolink RLC-810A cameras, bringing me up to eight, and everything integrates seamlessly. Reolink’s customer service has been equally impressive. I contacted them once with a small query, and their support team were polite, quick to respond, and genuinely helpful. They even offer a two-year warranty, which I was able to extend by another six months for free just by registering online. That is excellent aftercare and really builds confidence. It is one of the best CCTV systems I have ever owned, and I genuinely love it. If, like me, you have been sitting on the fence after reading mixed opinions, I would say go for it. I spent far too much time worrying, but this system has proven itself worth every penny. It is reliable, powerful, and looks great. I am hoping it serves me well for years to come. Thank you, Reolink, this is how you earn a loyal customer. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope you found it helpful and that it assists you in your decision-making. I try to be as honest and fair as possible, as those have always been the reviews that helped me the most.

Slightly tricky to set up with Synology but great picture
Initial impressions are good. This unit is replacing a HikVision that I had for years with no problems but I felt I needed better quality. Set up was not too tricky. Key is to download the Reolink App and change to a new password. I am using Synology Surveillance Station and setting this up was a bit weird. The camera make and model are specified in the Surveillance station, and it would allow a test connection but never remain connected. Same with OnVif camaera type. Eventually I found you need to enable on the Reolink app : Device Info > Network Information > Advanced 1) http to access via a web browser. 2) RTSP 3) OnVif I’m not certain which of RTSP and OnVif or both are needed. In the Reolink device web page (you get to this logging into the IP address of the camera) the settings are in a different place. Its Network > Advanced > Server setting. BUT you need to have used the app it seems to change password and then turn on HTTP. I’m liking the quality of image but haven’t seen a daytime stream yet. Downside is field of view is a bit narrower than the old camera. Hoping the reliability is good. I use HomePlug for network with a PoE adapter and the old ones would occasionally need a reboot (the homeplug not camera). I also have some wide trunking to keep the cables out of sight. If this behaves itself I will replace my other one. The Reolink app seems very good for the limited interaction I have had. I didn’t use an SD card (not sure if I will - it’s required for time lapse on the Reolink app), but I can do it on Synology. I think detection could be better than Syno - it says flies and insects won’t trigger false alerts.

Issues resolved swiftly
System is now all installed to IP rated mounted back boxes, issue with waterproof plugs resolved with a partial refund, which covered the cost of the mounting back boxes, thanks to Scarlett in CS. System is easy to use, was easy to setup, and tweak over a couple of days so detection is not false alarming. Privacy areas are easy to do, so you can mask areas in neighbouring propertys if required. 3 of my 4 cameras are set to alarm on detection, but also record 24/7, 1 camera is set to alarm only inside the property, in a room nobody should really be entering, also has cctv nvr located in here. All in all an excellent system, great video quality, I can access from PC, TV and mobile phone, and receive alarm notifications by email. This is my updated review, after a small issue as mentioned above.

Excellent quality and value for money CCTV
Very easy to set up with just a POE injector, WIFI Pod and a 256gb micro SD providing 4-5 days of recordings. No need for an NVR, unless you want more than one camera, Fantastic picture, day and night. All in all, cost less than £100 to have a very good CCTV system at home that you can view from anywhere in the world with a wifi or data connection. Highly recommend for piece of mind.

Tutta in metallo. Consigliata!
