A good buy - POINTS TO CONSIDER!
This is a sturdy, consistent product that gets the job done very well - a great product for the price range ('affordable' cooler/fridge/freezer). I hate buying ice for road trips and this product has successfully removed that step from my life. This cooler is great to use in-house, in-cabin, in-hotel room… or even when you simply need an additional fridge space (e.g. home gathering, etc). With some practice and tweaking - this portable fridge/freezer takes care of biz very well and keeps your foodstuffs out of the 'danger zone'. A FEW POINTS TO CONSIDER, however: 1) 'set-temp' vs 'real temp' -- I found that setting the device (set-temp) to 25 F allowed the fridge to run at a range of approximately 38-37 to 34-33 F (real temp) - a great temp for fridge foodstuffs. You will want to find a good range from coolest to warmest as your compressor turns off (coolest) and turns back on again (warmest) - for me, this was a set-temp of 25 F which offered about 30 minutes (give or take) from the coolest temp to the highest temp and then about 10 minutes (give or take) for the compressor to kick in and cool the device back down. This is something the manufacturer does not really consider or mention in their somewhat rudimentary instructions (i.e. setting your fridge to 34 F ain’t gonna cut it…) 2) Get a cheap fridge thermometer... it's a good idea to have a detached reference so you really know what temp you have in your fridge… there is no separate in-fridge thermometer… which would have been a nice feature. 3) You will want to consider cheaper models – we are all trying to get the most bang for our buck… BUT, I feel this product – although not the most ‘high-tech’ device – is built quite well and performed without a hiccup over our recent road trip/cabin excursion across desert and up into the mountains, and practice in-home prior. For what you may sacrifice for more (seemingly) fancy options, you get a sturdy, reliable device which maintains very consistent temps (the goal). 4) If you are an avid outdoors-person, off-the-grid camper, etc… this may be a great value for you IF YOU HAVE a reliable power source (RV power source, generator, etc) … BUT, you may want consider other options (i.e. with solar, etc) if you need additional support to power this device. Going into the $1000 or so range may offer you less tinkering and monitoring at the start. That said, once I became accustomed to this device and found my temp sweet-spot, I really didn’t have to think about it. 5) Overall, very happy with this purchase and recommend so long as you know what you are getting – check out the videos on Amazon and on-line for more details

Read this before you purchase! Add a bead of silicone on the bottom for future leaks.
Edit: another year has passed and we have had some problems with the hinges breaking. I reached out to customer service and I was able to purchase replacement hinges! So happy to not have to find a replacement. After nearly two years, this is a fantastic refrigerator and has been reliable over the last couple of years. The other comments regarding temperature are true, the thermostat is not quite accurate. But know the temperature threshold to adjust to and it will keep things cold no problem. We can go nearly entire day on a Jackery 500 WH battery in relatively warm conditions. Writing this review (amending my review from 4 stars) is that the insulation on the floor and sidewalls is not sealed. One time our full-size freezer went out and we transferred some items into this as a temporary solution. This freezer worked great but the ice cream had already melted and leaked into the bottom of the this refrigerator. No big deal, this was our fault. However, it was impossible to get into the crevices that were exposed on the bottom of the refrigerator. Weeks later it was full of mold and has been a continuous battle. To all of the future purchasers of this. unit: A bead of silicone around the bottom would have prevented this. I will be doing it with my next refrigerator - so far we are ahead of the battle so not upgrade time yet.

Excellent Fridge! Stays cold, doesn't use a lot of juice to maintain temp, and has held up to abuse!
This fridge was highly recommended by a certain overlanding youtuber I follow. I chose it based on his recommendation, my own research, budget, the style and also the fact that it is the only fridge at this price point that I could find having a 3 year compressor warranty. My first impressions were excellent and still loving it after some hard use. The fridge came well packaged in the box, arriving in pristine condition. The construction is high quality, hinges and latches are very sturdy and built to last. The lid seals well. The handles have a tight spring that holds them down so they don't flop and bang around. The buttons are nice and you have to hold them down to change the settings, so you don't accidentally change a setting and kill your battery or whatever. I read another review where the 12v adapter plug didn't fit snugly but mine is very snug and no problems with that connection so far whatsoever. I can plug it in to regular 110 outlet in the house and the temp will go from 85 to 34 within 15 minutes. I sometimes leave it plugged in and running for several days in the house and it runs quietly. I've taken it on several 3 and 4-day long camping trips where it rides in the bed of my Jeep Gladiator plugged into a 12v outlet while driving and an ECOFLOW RIVER 2 Max 500 Portable Power Station to power it overnight and when not on the move. I can adjust the settings as needed to help reduce the power it requires but it really maintains temp well overnight without using a lot of power. It's tough too, I've had it in the bed of the Gladiator without properly securing it while wheeling over large rock obstacles and deep mud holes and it's taken a bit more of a beating than I'd like to admit with only a small dent in the outside and it still runs like a top. Very happy with my purchase. Definitely think this fridge is the best bang for your buck if you're in the market for one in this price range.

Solid cooler/fridge, more time needed to evaluate reliability.
I wanted to make the switch from a cooler to 12vdc fridge so I started looking at my use cases, the majority of my trips are only 2 – 3 nights maximum with 2 – 4 people. The occasional 5 – 10 night trip is thrown in every now and then so I didn't want to spend a fortune on something that I wouldn't be constantly using. I do not have a battery pack (aka portable power station) so I plan to run the RV45 entirely off my vehicle. My first criteria was that the fridge had to perform (as an unpowered cooler) comparably to my current cooler, an Igloo MaxCold 38L. I couldn’t find any data on this so I decided to order the fridge and test myself. Both coolers were placed next to each other in my garage. I solidly froze 2 16.9oz water bottles and placed 1 in each cooler. Then I observed how the 2 bottles compared to each other at 6, 12, 24, and 30 hours. Pictures included. 6 hours: bottles are identical. 12 hours: RV45 bottle has melted slightly faster, difference looks be to 5% or less. 24 hours: RV45 bottle has a sliver of ice, MaxCold bottle is still 20% ice. 30 hours: Both bottles have no ice, the RV45 bottle is about ambient temperature, the MaxCold bottle is slightly cooler. This was a satisfactory result for me. If I were using the Igloo, I’d have to purchase more ice, dump out the water, and then refill it at around the 24-hour mark. With the RV45, I could just start up the vehicle and let it run to cool back down with no melted ice to worry about. Another criteria on my list was for the fridge to fit under the cargo cover of a 4th gen 4Runner (to prevent against car prowlers) and to open without having to remove the fridge from the vehicle. I wasn’t able to easily find dimensions while shopping. I measured the fridge after I received it, the overall dimensions (Length x Width x Height) are: 27” x 16” x 19” (closed) 27” x 17” x 33” (open). The RV45 does fit under the cargo cover and will fully open without having to remove it from vehicle. The last criteria would be build quality and reliability. I can’t really comment on either without more time using it. Will update review once I put it through its paces this upcoming summer. Peeking through the vents I did see that there is a HUAYI DL19H compressor inside. Included are 2 baskets, a cord that fits into the RV45 with a male cigarette lighter plug on the other end, and an AC to DC brick that goes from the wall outlet to automobile auxiliary power outlet. You just daisy chain both cords if you want to use it on AC power when at home or in a hotel. Moving forward for trips that are 24 hours or less I will continue to use my cooler with gel ice packs as it’s lighter and therefore easier to load/unload. For trips over 24 hours I will be using the RV45. If you need this by a certain date, order it well in advance. I had a long road trip planned and hoped to use this on that trip, so I paid extra for faster shipping. The fridge ships from Southern California, I live in Seattle. I placed an order for the fridge 10 days before my planned trip. The shipping label was created 3 days after I placed my order. The fridge was shipped 8 days after I ordered. FedEx delivered the fridge 13 days after I ordered. I had already left, so I had to have a friend receive the item for me while I was away.

dry camp 300w solar, 1.2kwh battery
very impressed with the build quality. the insulation, lid sealing/latching, control panel, efficiency all seem to be top notch. things we like: - pull out baskets for easy cleanup of spilled items, to take into the house for loading and unloading. - metal lining for ease of cleaning and adds to the build quality / durability. - latching lid and foam seal. - appears to have thick insulation and overnight run test seems to confirm this. - quiet operation. - low power consumption. we plan to use this dry camping as a freezer and our test overnight seems to indicate we should have no problem doing this. my setup: - 3x100 w solar panels - 1.2 kwh power station - Southern State in early May, 85° day 60° night - inside box truck slightly higher temp where the freezer is. - 10° freezer setting. - Max operation setting IE not econo mode. our concern is it running overnight, as during the day, the solar can more than keep up with its power use, which in the photograph attached is about 66 Watts running at Max cooling. we ran the freezer overnight and measured power consumption crudely from 5:00 p.m.(solar power dwindles) till 6:00 a.m.(solar power starts to produce) the next morning. it consumed roughly 35% of the power station or roughly 420wh, which is ~32w/hr overnight. By 11:00 a.m. the power station had been fully recharged to 100%. checked the temperature before and after and it stayed constant at just below 10° see pictures. temperature on control panel seems to match quite well with my refrigerator temperature gauges. unit is quiet we had no issues sleeping in the same area with it running. the cigarette lighter power connector is a weak link in that it is apt to vibrate out or become dislodged. I used some cable management web on the cord and used a split key ring with cable ties and an s hook to provide a strain relief, see picture. I have a 12 ft extension at 10 gauge and that is in the picture. I don't like the power cord into this unit as it exits towards the front and I would prefer it exit towards the back i e hinged back of the lid see picture. I will need to see about strain relieving it also. power connection into the unit location is good just the orientation of the cord is something I wish was changed. regardless of price, build quality seems very good and at the price point we got it with manufacturer / Amazon discount we can highly recommend it. if it still performs well after the next couple of weeks, we will get another one to act as a refrigerator IE to run out 34°.

Just torture tested this fridge for 2 weeks and it never failed me once
This fridge is awesome. If you are looking for an overland fridge that is worth the money, look no further. Plenty of space to fit everything, and the power draw is so minimal it's honestly pretty incredible. I'd say the temperature readout vs actuality is probably off by a degree or two, but that's not a big deal to me. I just torture tested this fridge during a 2 week offroading and camping trip in Ouray and Moab. This thing got bounced around, went through ambient temperatures ranging from 30*F to 110*F and never skipped a beat. Used daily, and never had an issue. The ONLY gripe I have is that I wish it included a separate cord that went straight into a conventional wall outlet, as opposed to the cig lighter plug adapter that goes to the conventional outlet. This connection would separate from time to time on really rough trails and I'd have to plug it back in to get the compressor running again. That being said, the insulation of the fridge worked well, as anytime I would catch this issue, it would only be raised by 3-4 degrees F at most. I would buy this fridge again, and I can't see why I would ever spend the money for an ARB or Dometic when something like this does just as well.

Really impressive product.
Really impressive product. I love its utilitarian industrial design, yet simple and practical at the same time. Power consumption is from 45 to 55 watts, which is really impressive considering that it does not work constantly, but turns on about once an hour for about 5 minutes. Excellent thermal insulation. After turning off the power, the products remained cold for about 10 hours.

Simply does not work! DO NOT BELIEVE YOU TUBERS!!!!!! UPDATE 13 Sept. 2023
I bought the RV45S because it was marketed with anti-shake and that it would work with a 40º incline. I figured it would be great for camping....WRONG! I have been testing it in my garage during the hottest days we have had this summer since I bought it in August and comparing it to my Dometic CFX3 45 using two Jackery 500 explorers. Ambient temperature has averaged 94ºF inside the garage and I figured this is real life testing as I would use it strictly for my camping, fishing and hunting trips. I placed 4 one gallon jugs of water in the Setpower RV45S and the same on my Dometic CFX3 45. I set the temperature to zero as the Setpower RV45S only goes to zero whereas the Dometic goes to -7ºF The Setpower RV45S was drawing 53 watts max and was disappointed by my Dometic CFX 45 drawing 79 watts. The water temperature measured 90ºF and after 2 hours the water temperature measured 77º on the Setpower and 70º on the Dometic. The Setpower reading on the Jackery read 80% and the Dometic had dropped to 68%. After 4 hours the Setpower water was at 67ºF and the Jackery was at 56%. On the Dometic the water was at 58ºF and the Jackery was at 33%. I then plugged both Jackeries to AC power to charge them through the night as both would not last. After both were charged 100% I disconnected both Jackeries from the wall, both fridges were still running as the Jackeries have pass through charging. After 26 hours of running both refrigerators at zero, the Dometic had frozen all 4 gallons of water. The Setpower RV45S took 52 hours to freeze 3 jugs of water and one gal jug never froze after 96 hours. After 5 days the 4th jug finally froze . I then put the temperature on both refrigerators to 36º and the Jackery on the Setpower turned off. If the Jackery 500 senses a draw of less than 2 watts it will shut itself down after 10 hours, it is a power saving mode. The Jackery on the Dometic lasted 48 hours and had 3% before I turned it off. Ambient temperature that day was 90ºF inside the garage. The reason the Jackery shut down on the Setpower RV45S was not due to efficiency, the settings at 36º was actually waiting for the temperature to read 54º. The Jackery turned off twice and after 2 weeks of constant running the Setpower RV45S and the Dometic CFX3 45 on A/C power with both set at 36º the temperature on the Setpower RV45S reads 54ºF and the ice has thawed out whereas in the CFX3 45 the temperature inside reads 38º the ice is beginning to thaw but the Dometic has been turned off for 25 hours. My recommendation would be to not buy the Setpower RV45S and most important do not believe any of the you tube influencers that market this refrigerator. I will give an update about Setpower Company to see if their customer service is any good and see if I will have to go through hoops to get my refund. UPDATE 13 SEPT 2023, I received a return label from Setpower, and they expect me to pay for shipping. Cost for shipping the refrigerator back is $184+ change. A few days ago I get an email from Setpower stating that they had seen my review and that they were going to contact their R&D department and offered to refund me and make arrangement with FEDEX to pickup the unit at their cost. They wanted me to include my email, address, and phone# but then there were some contradictory issues on their form they had on the email. It stated not to include any physical information such as address, email and phone #. I go to the website and call and things just look and sound questionable, like a scam, but yet I received the fridge. I don't know if Amazon and or Setpower have been hacked now. I am so frustrated, I am just going to suck up the expense and never order from Setpower and Amazon, it is ridiculously difficult to return items and difficult to reach a person to handle situations like this.
