What happens when the battery dies? Are they replaceable or do you need to transfer accounts to a new key before it dies?

Hello, The battery is not officially user replaceable but probably possible with enough skill. Q. How long does the battery last? A. Battery life depends on usage. Burning/programming operations via NFC consume a lot more power, so we must take that into account as well. As a rough estimation, if a token is used a few times per day (i.e. each profile is used once - so 10 button presses a day) and the NFC operations are not very frequent (i.e. not more than once a month) - the Molto-1 token will last for 4-5 years. Q. Will I lose access to the TOTP profiles when the battery is dead? A. Yes, but you will have enough time to prepare. Molto-1 will have a battery indicator on the display (). The indicator will show the status throughout the life of the token () . You should replace your token (and migrate the TOTP tokens by resetting the second factor on each respective service) when the indicator shows the battery level as "empty" () - you will still have a couple of months to do this.

can this device be used under linux ?

Hi, the device does not require a computer to get codes, however, it must be programmed initially using the NFC chip on most android and newer i-phones. There is an app available in each phone's app store. Additionally, the Molto-1 can be programmed using a USB NFC module and the Windows-only Token2 MFC Burner app for Windows. I don't know if the MFC Burner app will run in Wine or a VM under linux. 10/10, one note

Such a treat! It took some trial and error to set up, but once it held the OTP keys it became indispensable. I usually don't have my phone on me, so have this tiny "calculator" on my desk has proven essential whenever I'm accessing my most used accounts.

Better than expected. I'll be using this for a very long time.

This Token2 Molto-1 is actually the Molto-1-i (just an upgraded version of the original). Item came in original packaging from the manufacturer. Honestly, I would have ordered direct from the manufacturer but between tariffs and shipping, Amazon was a few $$ cheaper. Already in use and working great. Android App is easy to use, the wizard is great and allowed me to program some OTP keys of various types. I did have issues getting the Google keys to use SHA256 (used SHA1) but that's something to work on my end. Overall, happy with the purchase and will use it for years until the battery dies.

You have to make it the authenticator app on your online accounts, Google, and windows login, that you want to program after that it works great. simple to use

ACTUALLY CHINESE PRODUCT

This product markets itself as being "Designed in Switzerland", which is a deliberate con -- even *if* it were, the app is in Chinese. If you care about security, treat this as radioactive.

Pretty cool device

Very useful and when you get to use the app couple of times it gets easier. It’s programmable through the app on your phone and laptop.
