Mattifying, Mild, But Smelly
The Hanskin (Korean brand) Vitamin C Glow Serum comes suitably packaged in a white (non-transparent) 1oz glass dropper. Vitamin C begins to break down in the presence of air and light. So the white bottle helps maintain some product integrity. It is formulated first with water and 5% of ascorbic acid, making it mild enough for most users (assuming you already tolerate vitamin C). Ascorbic acid (L-ascorbic acid) should ideally have a pH of 2.6-3.2 but I have no clue what the pH of this serum is. Don't be too discouraged by the 5%, even lower concentrations of vitamin C will give users some benefits (like fading discoloration and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). The Hanskin Vitamin C Glow serum is also formulated with tocopherol (vitamin E) and niacinamide (vitamin B3). Vitamin C mix well and layers with other skin care ingredients, including other vitamins and antioxidants, such as retinol and niacinamide. The serum itself is not clear. It does have a transparent orange hue. Also has grapefruit peel oil, resulting in an intense weird citrusy odor I don't like very much. As someone with sensitive skin, I could have done without this added essential oil. Still, it isn't greasy, sticky, heavy, or unpleasant. This runny serum is mattifying (I have combination skin) and alcohol-free. Hasn't cause any noteworthy flares, irritation, or breakouts. Can be used AM or PM. Used as a serum or incorporated into your moisturizer (especially if you have sensitive skin). I would highly recommend using an SPF in the daytime, especially if you use antioxidants and exfoliants.Ingredient as of this writing:Water, Ethoxydiglycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Ascorbic Acid, Propanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Choleth-24, Tromethamine, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Glycerin, Tocopherol, Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Niacinamide, Sodium Phytate, Cyanocobalamin, limonene

Nice to have a serum that is focused on doing one thing very well
Hanskin Vitamin C Glow Serum with Ascorbic Acid, Toning, Illuminates for Glowing Skin [30ml]This deep gold serum is an interesting texture. It starts out watery, then as you pat it into the skin it feels slightly oily, and then it fully absorbs and you don't feel anything on the skin at all. It has no noticeable scent. It's very lightly moisturizing but the primary benefits are the antioxidant, collagen-boosting and brightening effects of Vitamin C and the brightening, anti-acne and anti-inflammatory effects of niacinamide. It's an excellent, focused serum and I would repurchase it.#alcohol-freeKey Ingredients:Anti-acne: NiacinamideAntioxidant: Ascorbic Acid, TocopherolCell-communicating ingredient: NiacinamideSkin brightening: Ascorbic Acid, NiacinamideSkin-identical ingredient: GlycerinFull Ingredients:Water, Ethoxydiglycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Ascorbic Acid, Propanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Choleth-24, Tromethamine, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Glycerin, Tocopherol, Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Niacinamide, Sodium Phytate, Cyanocobalamin

Vitamin C serum w/opaque bottle for freshness, absorbs well, contains grapefruit oil, made in Korea
This Hanskin Vitamin C serum is is a light champagne color, which indicates that it's still fresh. With age, it will eventually turn orange or brown. It absorbs well and doesn't leave a sticky residue. It is packaged in an opaque white bottle, which is good because Vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid is unstable, and deteriorates and becomes less effective with exposure to both light and air/oxygen. It's dispensed with an eyedropper, which is pretty good, although a pump dispenser would have been even better, since reducing air exposure keeps the product fresh for longer.Vitamin C is excellent for skincare because it's a potent antioxidant, and has brightening effects because it stimulates collagen production. There's also niacinamide at the end of the ingredient list, and it also brightens skin and encourages cell turnover/renewal.On the potential drawback side, the ingredients also contain grapefruit peel oil, which gives the serum a citrus scent. However, citrus oils are often irritating for those with sensitive skin. It's made in Korea. The full ingredient list actually printed on the box are slightly different than those in the product description online, so I'm listing them here:Water, Propanediol, Ascorbic Acid, Dipropylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Tromethamine, Choleth-24, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Broccoli extract, Turmeric root extract, Tocopherol, Pineapple fruit extract, Glucosylrutin, Polyglyceryl-10 Oleate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Phytate, Astragalus Membranaceus root extract, Coptis chinensis root extract, Phellodendron amurense Bark extract, Scutellaria baicalensis Root extract, Cyanocobalamin, Niacinamide.
