desertcart.com: Silent Creed (A Ryder Creed Novel): 9780515155945: Kava, Alex: Books Review: Learning About the Training of the Dogs - There was nothing in this book I didn't like. The Creed series has held my interest for each and every page. I have had dogs in my life for about 72 years now and I cannot imagine life without them. What I particularly like about this series of books is the training processes the handler and the dogs go through. Some of the things they covered I already knew about but a lot of them I did not know about. Being a long-time dog lover I was beside each of the dogs in everything that they had to do. And the story line about the handler and how he handled the dogs and the problems they faced was really good reading. I am now into the 4th book of this series and I sincerely hope that there are more coming in this series. Keep up the great work Alex Kava! Review: Marvelous blend of characterization and story - The first book in the Ryder Creed series, Breaking Creed, knocked my socks off, and this second installment is a pageturner, too-- even though readers who don't like cliffhangers are probably going to be furious. If you enjoy being immersed in the world of working dogs, Alex Kava's series is for you. A veteran of Afghanistan, Ryder Creed has a compound in the Florida Panhandle where he trains search and rescue dogs. What earns him a lot of Brownie points from me is the fact that the dogs he trains are rescues themselves. In Silent Creed, we get to see two of his best dogs at work, a Jack Russell Terrier named Grace and Bolo, part Rhodesian Ridgeback and extremely protective of Ryder. The plot is based on fact and may get readers' blood boiling since it does concern how cavalier some of these secret research facilities are with their test subjects. Kava also brings home how dangerous it is to work search and rescue in a landslide area. Besides the dogs and the storylines, I enjoy these books for the characters. It was good to see FBI agent Maggie O'Dell again because she works well with Ryder Creed, who's much more comfortable with dogs than he is with humans (although he has a tough time keeping his eyes off Maggie... and vice versa). I also hope to see a minor character named Daniel Tate again. Even though I did find the ending rather jarring, I have the feeling that the character involved is going to figure prominently in some future book, and I look forward to the return engagement.

Creed’s K9 dogs
Wow, another great story by Alex Kava. This is the second book in her Creed series. Well written, enjoyable beyond words. I recommend for everyone to read any of her books. Her writing is captivating, suspenseful and has a way of making you want to read to the very end and to start the next one. But I have to go to sleep or I won’t be able to remember wheat I read.

I love the Creed series!
This was the second of the series and so far both have been excellent. Being a dog lover I very much enjoy the special relationship portrayed between Creed and his dogs. Being a veteran I appreciate that the author realistically tackles veteran issues and brings them to light. I also feel that the author has devoted a lot of time researching his topics and that his viewpoints are not fantasy but could easily be true. In my opinion that leads to believable plots. Last, the writing is very good and not only are the story lines good, but the characters are great. Again, they are authentic, people that you get to know and care about. Can't wait to read the next in the series!

very exciting and suspenseful
Have enjoyed each one of these Creed books. Love the way the dogs are depicted and each book is as exciting as the next. I started with book 6 but enjoyed it so much went to book 1 and just finished book 2. So looking forward to more.

Good storyline
I enjoyed this book. I love the dogs, and the search and rescue information was very interesting. It felt a bit slow and disjointed in a few spots, but overall, it was good.

The Story Continues
After reading the first one, I downloaded the second one immediately for reading. I wanted to find out more about these characters. I love the dogs and their personalities. I also like that the characters have memories that led them to the place they are in the book, but there isn't a lot of sitting on the pity pot and blaming the past. I enjoyed the story. I still don't quite understand why the FBI agent suddenly finds herself being sent into situations that she doesn't know anything about. I don't know about that part. Surely she has to be briefed about why she is being sent somewhere and what her mission is there. I do like Grace and Bolo a lot. And Hannah is a hoot. This is going to be a good series.

Excellent 4.75 stars!
This series is so captivating in the details of each assignment and what Creed goes through to prepare. The emotions he feels about his dogs, which are his reason for living, is so touching it warms fellow dog lovers hearts. The factual information and historical accuracy are very interesting and scary in some ways. Each book takes the reader a little deeper into the lives of Creed, his dogs and those he allows into his small circle. Each of those has had to earn his trust and you learn how they did it. The author has such a great writing style and does not bog you down with the minutiae that you would feel the need to skim. Every detail becomes important, the reader's very own "alert". ;) This book does end abruptly and is a cliffhanger, so this is the warning, but not spoiler. I anxiously await the next book out soon!
