He's disappointed, but intrigued when he's told that the seed ...
I was surprised this kept my nephew's (3 years old) attention, since this book on patience tried my patience, at times. The story development seems a bit slow, and that does seem an odd thing to complain about, given the subject, but picture books are meant to be entertaining and educational, which means keeping the listener tuned in.A young mouse gets the gift of a seed from his grandfather. He's disappointed, but intrigued when he's told that the seed could grow to feed his entire family, and he could play with it. Luke waters the plant diligently--learning responsibility when he fails and the plant wilts--until one day, he goes outside to find....This would be a good pick for a class about to begin a plant unit, or your kids when spring is getting started and your garden work begins.
