Does The spray leave a greasy mess wherever the spray lands?

Not at all- the mist evaporates in the air leaving a very nice smell in the air. I would highly recommend you try the new Air Wick essential mist!

Can you use the oil in a different diffuser?

Yes, depending on the type of diffuser. The Air Wick Essential Oil diffuser bottle has a stopper that looks similar to those on the warm oil plug-ins. If that is removed, the essential oil can be placed in the water of regular room diffusers using a regular dropper. To use in other bottle type diffusers, you may have to change the bottle since the threads on the Air Wick Essential oil bottle are larger than most essential oil bottles.
