A Superb Educational Model: 15RPM Observation & Key Assembly Tips
【Main Review: Educational Value & Sound】 This is a fantastic educational model that accurately reproduces the SOHC mechanism of the Porsche flat-six engine. Porsche 911 fans will find it an excellent collectible, as it allows for a visual understanding of the ignition sequence and rocker arm movement. The running speed is slow, approximately 15 RPM (one crankshaft rotation every 4 seconds). It is perfectly suited for observation rather than dynamic realism. The sound experience is a major plus; while the built-in speaker is decent—slightly muffled, which might sound a bit "toy-like" to some—it captures the distinct, satisfying Porsche note very well. An audio jack is included for external speakers. The model is powered by three standard AA batteries (a relief for international buyers like me who were unsure of the power source). It operates in 30-second bursts when the button is pressed; pressing the button again during operation will start the engine sound, and the engine will continue to run until the engine sound end(start from 30 seconds). Pressing the button while this stops engine and initiates the engine sound only, and it stops when pressing the button again. 【Assembly Tips for Best Results】 The kit requires attention and some minor modification for the best fit, which stems from the design choices of a moving model. Piston Assembly: The gudgeon pins (piston pins) were slightly too long and needed to be sanded down to allow the piston heads to assemble correctly. Aesthetics: Parts like the rocker arms and connecting rods are highly visible from the outside. I strongly recommend thoroughly cleaning the gates and flashing with a hobby knife for a clean finish. While the gate marks on the piston head tops are visible upon assembly, they are largely hidden once the engine is complete, so don't be overly meticulous there. Material & Correction: The clear parts, likely made from a tough plastic (such as PVC), prioritize impact resistance/toughness over the precise dimensional stability of typical PS (polystyrene) models like those from Tamiya. This results in some warped pieces. I had to use a hair dryer to carefully warm and correct the distortion, and gently adjust the insertion tabs with pliers. However, because this type of flexible material gradually loses internal stress (stress relaxation) once assembled, excessive stress correction is not always necessary if the pieces fit together without breakage. 【Decal Application Guide】 The base decal is tricky and prone to misalignment. I recommend a careful application. Align the decal (still attached to the backing paper) to check the margins. Peel off only half of the backing paper and cut off about one-third of the exposed backing. Hold the lifted, exposed adhesive side slightly up while aligning the other half (still with the backing paper) to the correct position on the base. Once the position is fixed, let the lifted adhesive side stick. Then, remove the remaining backing paper and smooth out the whole decal. This ensures a clean finish.

Great gift idea!
Bought this for my husband for Christmas. He is a car enthusiast and has his own shop. He put it together and now we proudly have it displayed in our den. He really enjoyed putting it together and didn’t stop till it was finished.

Missing and Damaged Parts!
Some of the plastic parts had melted and were bent. (The valve guides). The springs that go around the valves were nowhere to be found! This was a very expensive model, I would have hoped for better quality!

most enjoyable model I've ever built
This model was challenging technically, but the instructions were clear and easy to follow, and no glue was required. Everything snapped or screwed together. Around 2.5 to 3 hours to assemble. Just double and triple check you have the correct cam parts in their correct locations and use the supplied alignment and timing tools. The instructions are contained within a nice book about the history of the Porsche engine. This would be a perfect project with a kid that is interested in how car engines work.

Precision parts
Very fun to build, everything fit very well, and engine ran as expected when finished. Like the nice book/instructions included.

Love this motor
I assembled the motor in a couple hours. Directions were on point, book on Porsche was great. You push a button, the motor fires up, shifts thru gears audibly, and each cylinder shows red lights simulating firing order. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about the Porsche flat six engine or just for fun.
