Painted parts react & melt onto food toys/ruined! Realistic-looking & right size for Barbies.
I'll start off with the NEGATIVE: I bought several of these sets and most are ruined. Not because I did anything, but because they cannot come into contact with each other! Can you believe it? - Toys that come together in a set can't touch or they destroy each other! - It's crazy. The painted handles on the utensils in each set, if left touching one of the foods, will melt the paint off of the handle and get all over the foods (and anything else)...and then, if you try to remove the paint spots, it takes the foods' colors with it and leaves an unsightly white area in its place. The black from the tongs in the "Chillin' and Grillin'" set got all over the tiny foods and ruined them...the red handle of the spatula in the pizza set did the same thing. The end of the knife in the "Rise & Shine" set is actually touching the tiny bacon in package, and so when you open it there will be a messy paint spot on the bacon already. (Luckily, this paint actually wiped off easily and did not ruin the tiny bacon; unlike all the other sets I bought that got ruined.) The tiny foods are rubbery and so I think they react when they stay in contact with any painted areas; a poor design for a toy set that's meant to be played with together. I think if there were no painted areas, or if the tiny foods were not rubbery, but were made of a hard plastic instead, perhaps then this problem wouldn't happen. It was SO DISAPPOINTING when I saw what had happened to all the sets I bought. I never played with them (adult collector; used for doll collection display, not for toys), I just had them stored in a box together. So, now I have each individual piece stored in a separate resealable bag, so that no pieces will ever touch again. I wrote to the company and they were kind enough to replace what got ruined. If you do buy these sets, please KEEP THEM SEPARATED!!! I'd hate for your toys to ruin themselves too! Now for the POSITIVE: They are very cute sets and the foods look pretty realistic. I never opened or used any of the "toppings" that come with any of these sets; I think they are mostly slime, tiny plastic balls, and moldable sand. I just liked the small foods to use in Barbie doll displays. They are a perfect size for that; and honestly, much more realistic-looking than most Barbie foods and dishes. So, to sum up:Super-cute toys that look pretty realistic, and are the right size for a Barbie-sized doll. Poor design; the toys react when they touch and paint melts off and redistributes all over everything. Keep each piece completely separate from every other piece to make sure this doesn't happen.
