Solid cuffs
I purchased these handcuffs for work and used them almost every day for a year. They take a bit of use to break them in at first. The tolerance are tight and some CLP or lube will help.I specifically bought these because they accommodate larger wrists than my S&W cuffs. I elected for the black version because the nickel finish is slippery. Having key holes on both sides of the cuffs is a nice touch. One thing about these is they will rust if not taken care of. I was involved with a three day man hunt. One day for 10 hours I was on foot in the rain. I was so tired and did not get a chance to check them until the next day. I noticed that they had started to rust on the parts where the finish had worn off. This did not affect the function and was only cosmetic. I cleaned the rust off and now apply some CLP every now and then. Other than that they work as intended and have had no issues.

Well made
I have my reasons for wanting orange handcuffs... These are sturdy and great, but bear in mind they are less comfortable for subjects wearing them. Seems odd, but try to wear your own cuffs for a few minutes to see what they are like. I suggest keeping chained cuffs with you as well so you have options. There is noticeable scuffing on some of the bolt heads where they contact the handcuff case, but I don't mind. I will surely be able to tell these from everyone else's cuffs for my entire career. The double locking mechanism on the edge is much easier to operate than Smith and Wesson's design. The hinges are designed so as to fit into normal handcuff cases, unlike ASP's. It took a smidgen of graphite and five minutes of playing with them to get them pretty smooth.Easily worth the extra couple of dollars over normal handcuffs.

Durability
I've ordered several pairs of these cuffs, simply because I work in a school and the kids interact with the color differences. Overall the durability of these are great even when on patrol and easily assessible to double lock. Can't complain, just wished the color lasted longer but all things have wear and tare after time. Will be ordering another color soon!

Peerless quality, can't go wrong.
These are nice and sturdy cuffs. Great for duty use. From a tactical standpoint, hinged cuffs are more difficult to apply on a non-compliant subject, but offer much more control, which is why I use them when possible. If I have to, I can restrain them with chain cuffs, and apply the hinged cuffs after the fact. They are slightly bigger around than standard Peerless chain cuffs, so they are great for subjects with larger wrists. The only thing I don't like, and it's definitely not a deal breaker, is these do not backload like the standard Peerless chain cuffs, so if your the type of guy/gal that likes to load their cuffs on the last tooth, you will have to count clicks until you get a feel for them. This isn't a dealbreaker to me because typically cuffs only needed to be loaded for tactical handcuffing/speed cuffing, which I don't typically do with hinged cuffs. I'll use my chain cuffs for that. When it comes to Peerless vs Smith & Wesson, it all comes down to preference. One isn't better than the other, they are just different. I use Peerless mostly because I prefer the double locking system on Peerless cuffs, and the ability to backload on the chain cuffs. If you know and like Peerless cuffs, you won't be disappointed. If you are looking to choose what brand you're going to go with, I will tell you to give Peerless cuffs a try. If you are only planning to carry one set, definitely go with chain cuffs, and not hinged. But if you carry several sets of restraints on duty (P.S. you should) then I always recommend throwing in a set of hinged cuffs, and these are some of the best on the market. When it comes to cuffs, you can't go wrong with Peerless or S&W. I recommend Peerless for my own reasons, and your choice might be different. But, for you and your colleagues' safety, I would stay away from ASP.

Buy them!!!
These are bar-non the absolute best LEO handcuffs on the planet. In every way, from drop down to cuffing up a subject, these never fail. No chance of spinning, so your key holes are all messed up and awkward, they are always set in the perfect place. All my chained are left in my vehicle for distant backups just in case I have to cuff up multiple subjects. I always have two of these on my person at all times.

Swear by them.
Bought my first couple of pairs of these in 2001. In 2014, my employer issued some other cuffs they wanted us to use. This year, I was able to start using these again. They had been in storage in a coastal environment and had some light rust. A little oil and a brass brush and they cleaned up awesome! They are still going strong. Needed a couple more pair and did not even hesitate in looking for these.

Stick with nickel, the rest will cause issues.
I've carried the orange versions for several years and the paint tends to wear and the cuffs have issues operating smoothly. I went with orange so I could easily pick mine out when they come off at the detention facility. The locking mechanism and everything else function normally, but for a quick latch using the butterfly technique can be an issue. Last week I purchased the black oxide version and they were stiff right out of the box (resisted latching not spinning around the arm). That's an issue if you don't want to injure someone while quickly handcuffing them since you'll be pushing down harder on their wrist. I also have a set of the nickel and they're fantastic. I highly recommend this version. My most recent purchase was the black oxide and that's why I give it 3 stars. They even warn you in the manual that this version is prone to rust compared to other finishes. Buyer beware. STICK WITH THE NICKEL.
