Great book
My son struggles with dyslexia so reading books usually does not keep his interest. We bought this book for a mystery book report that he had to do basically because #1 it was a mystery and #2 it was about dirt bikes. He has a dirt bike and when he saw this book he immediately said that was it. We started reading the book and it kept his interest the whole time. He is in 6th grade and had to do an oral book report on it so I asked him the day after we finished the book to tell me about it and he talked and talked and knew every detail. I just bought him #'s 2-5 and look forward to reading them with him. My mom used to have the old series because my brothers used to read them and when her house burnt down she lost them all. I wish she had them all now so that my son could read them also.

The Hardy Boys Zoom Into The 21st Century
In this, the first volume of the Undercover Brothers series, we find Frank and Joe entering a new era of more mature adventures as agents of A.T.A.C. (American Teens Against Crime). In addition the story is written in first person narrative style with Frank and Joe alternating chapters. This story has the Boys investigating the sabotaging of an Extreme Sports meet in Philadelphia. Suspicious accidents and even a murder are centered around the meet and it's up to Frank and Joe to find out who is behind them! There's plenty of exciting adventure and mystery to be had in the course of the investigation. Many of the characters from the older stories show up here: Mr. & Mrs. Hardy and, of course, Aunt Gertrude who is now called Aunt Trudy. Naturally, it wouldn't be a Hardy Boys story unless Chet Morton showed up and he makes a cameo appearance late in the story.I enjoyed this story and if it is a sign of things to come, the new series should be a hit!

An Exciting, Fast-Paced Read
This was a nice trip down memory lane - I loved the Hardy Boys as a kid. The plot is full of action and features an exciting setting. The characters are interesting and colorful. This is a great read for kids - anyone older will notice the cliches and stereotypes in the text, such as the lack of depth in almost all of the side characters.

New Undercover Brothers Series
I was excited to hear that they were updating the Hardy Boys series for the 21st century. I was also curious to see how they were going to do first person narrative with 2 main characters. How they do it is that they alternate each character between chapters. This is really interesting. It puts us in the character's heads and is more personal. This story, the first in the series was good. Frank and Joe are more like real characters.Anyone who is a Hardy Boys fan will enjoy this book

Complete trash!
As a serious collector, I've read (and own) the full 58-book 'canon', as it's called, of the original Hardy Boys. Those books are clean, fun, and perfectly appropriate for everyone age 8 to 98. So when I saw these books, I expected the same in a contemporary setting. However, the Undercover Brothers series will shock any parent looking for some clean, enjoyable reading material for their children. Frank and Joe deal with murder in nearly every book. They are disrespectful and lie to their elders, flirt continuously, and use potty language. The plots are pretty action-packed, with definitely more hair-raising advntures and stickier situations than the originals. To me, though, the great action doesn't outweigh the books' questionable content. Do you really want your 12-year-old shouting "Rat poop!" just like Frank and Joe?The Undercover Brothers books completely ditch the innocence and clean fun of the originals, not to mention the disconnect from reality- Fank and Joe are now members of a super-secret teen spy/detective organization started by their father, they recieve self-destroying 'missions' that deal with often-ridiculous and poorly-researched settings, and their mother and aunt know nothing about any of it- not to mention calling Aunt Gertrude "Trudy"! These books are a stain on the Hardy Boys' name- not worth reading for adults and certainly not appropriate for children.

I am too old for this.
Interesting. Good read. Time well spent. Recommended for below 18 unless a fan of the Hardy Boys. Three words required
