Q: why does it not grind beans often? even if you set it to grind, it flips back to filter, in the app and on the machine, it is failing to grind why?

Hey there! I’m not sure if this is what you’re running into but I had to turn mine to the bean button on the actual machine I flipped it back and forth and eventually it started working! In the app it still says filter but on my machine it says bean. Hope this helps!

Q: Can I buy a thermal carafe for this coffee maker?

I will stick to the original model. The machine has a sensor that recognizes the carafe, is is not the same size or shape it might not recognized and shows an alert that stops the coffee preparation

Q: Is there a way to plumb this coffee maker so I don’t have to fill the reservoir?

I've considered this myself, but the coffee maker isn't designed for it. If you were able, you could engineer a new lid for the water fill and do this, but it isn't made to do so. Filling the water for me has been the only real inconvenience for an otherwise set it and forget it coffee maker like this one.
