Really nice!
Great bento box. The compartments are nice and deep. I didn’t want something that had too many compartments and this was perfect. It can fit a whole sandwich in the large section. The cap seals nicely and with a very small amount of practice, my pre schooler was able to open and close it independently. Lunch stayed cold. Washes well. Just a quick note: the sections are not meant to keep anything liquidy or juicy from bleeding into the other compartment.

Worth the $. These are the best!
If you're looking at this lunch box, you are probably trying to avoid plastic. This is all stainless steel, easy to clean and good quality. I have had a small duo (2 section container that's great for snacks or a toddler/small child's lunch) and a large trio (3 section container perfect for an adult or older child's lunch) for a little over a year now. Unlike plastic containers, these two lunch boxes which have been used and washed nearly every day are exactly the same now as the day they arrived. This is an excellent, simple product. The price was very off-putting to me, but I didn't want to waste time or money on an inferior product that wouldn't last. Like most things that you will only ever have to buy once, it is not cheap, but it will last. I use the larger one for my 5-year-old's lunch and the smaller one for my 2-year-old. Both are sent to school/daycare/camp, dropped on the floor regularly and have only a few scratches but no dents. As other reviewers also noted, it is actually a more pleasant experience to pack lunches and even motivating to have such nice lunch boxes. I just ordered two more of the large trio boxes for my husband and I so that I can start packing lunches for the whole family the night before. You'll be surprised how much more satisfying it is to pack even a simple PBJ & fruit in a good quality stainless container than in a plastic one or ziplock bags. In our family, our goal with the things we choose to purchase and use regularly is always "less and better" and this product fits perfectly with that.

Best option available
If you are and adult and you want a good-sized lunch in an all-metal (no plastic!), easy-to-clean lunch box, this is the best option available. It's sturdy, stays closed, and is a perfect size. You can fit a sandwich on the left side and then enough vegetable/salad/etc. on the other side to make for a great lunch. There is no paint to chip off and it's dishwasher safe.Only downside to the Bento Trio is that the top does not provide enough of a seal to hold liquid inside. So if you put in, say, a dressed salad, some dressing could leak out. Not a major problem, just something that needs to be accounted for. The compartments are not waterproof either. There is a tiny gap at the bottom of the walls that separate the areas, so any liquid from one compartment can (and will) leak over into the next. The best bet is to use dry food in these box, or just use food where you don't mind a little mingling of flavors. That said, I have no problem putting grilled vegetables next to rice, and having the rice come out great after a day in the fridge and transportation to work.Another downside: Because this is metal you can't microwave it! Not a big deal for me since I like my lunch cold, but definitely something to consider. All that being said, this is definitely the best in the category. This is an updated review, so I'm saying this after using one of these Trios 5 days a week for over 20 months and ordering about 6 months ago. Both are in perfect condition -- so much so that I can't tell which is the old one and which is the new one.

Love the lunchbox, not the plastic lid addition
I bought two of these lunchboxes for my pre-k and kindergartener. They are a great size and, while not leakproof, able to store food well and easy for my kids to open at school. I think they will be large enough to work for the next few years for us. My only complaint is that the colorful plastic part of the lids has been difficult to remove for cleaning, so we just leave it off. This doesn’t impact how the lunchbox itself functions, just the appearance.

reasons I like my lunchbot
I enjoy packing my lunch more now with a LunchBots for the following reasons:1. I can make a cute lunch. This has been surprisingly motivating. I used to hate packing my lunch because I'd have to throw it in some old grubby-looking tuperware containers. But now there's something immensely satisfying about packing my lunch. I look forward to packing my lunch now, in fact, which is bizarre for me.2. Only one thing to wash and one thing to carry to work as opposed to multiple containers.3. It's not leak-proof, so there are restrictions to what I can pack in it. I actually find this helpful because I can make a nicer presentation with dry foods anyway, but especially because it limits my choices at the grocery store. I walk around the store thinking "Ok, what's going to work in my lunchbot box?" rather than "OH MY GOSH WHAT DO I BUY TO PACK IN MY LUNCH? THERE'S TOO MANY CHOICES!"4. It satisfies a need I didn't even know I had: to make things fit snugly and perfectly. It's like a zen garden for your lunch. This lunchbox will not work well if you're not able to carry it horizontally to work. I live a five-minute drive away and have a fridge I can store it in while I'm at work, so I have no trouble at all carrying it. I don't even use a lunchbox. I have yet to use it on a day when I ride my bike and have to throw it in my bag... I think I will probably get a PlanetBox for days like that. I'll have to save up for a PlanetBox though, they're terribly expensive. Even this Lunchbot was kinda expensive, but I've got my money's worth out of it and would buy it again in a heartbeat.
