Ruby Reef ARR11163 Kich-Ich and Rally Aquarium Combo Pack Water Treatment , 64-Ounce

******UPDATE: I used Ruby Reef Kick-Ich for a second ich breakout I suffered, and it IS NOT WORKING. The first time I used this, the ick was gone in about a week, this time, it is taking a very long time. My fish still have ick after several treatments. I have gone through nearly an entire 64 oz bottle and it is no use. The ick must have built up an immunity to this type of med, but for whatever reason, it is not working. On a plus note, no fish have died from ick, but regardless, the spots are still on the fish. I am going to use Hickory Ich-X for my next treatment.(First review)I used this for my freshwater 90 planted tank with inverts. Works. This was my first time using Ruby Reef Kick-Ick. No snails or shrimp died, but a few of my fish did, as predicted, ick is a known fish killer. Follow the directions and be patient. Are you going to lose fish? Yes, probably. Ick is a horrible disease and it usually kills fish, (imagine a parasite that attaches itself to your mouth, lungs and skin and starts eating away at you...it's a nightmare world!) However, ick is very treatable, but it takes patience and diligence. Educate yourself on what exactly your particular aquarium environment and fish need, and go with that. Ruby Reef happens to work for my aquarium. However, the reason why I go with a community, freshwater, planted tank is because instead of losing $50-$100 on a fish, you lose $3, $5, maybe $10 or $15 on a bad day. Saltwater is big $, especially when it comes to fish & inverts, and in this hobby, you're likely going to have ick. For a freshwater tank, Ruby Reef works great. I'm not sure how it would it work for a salt water tank, but it looks like several people have had good results with their saltwater tanks using this product. By the second application, none of my fish had ick. I am going to continue to treat my fish for a solid month, then insert a carbon filter pad and keep on going. (Make sure you remove all your carbon media prior to treatment, raise the temp to at LEAST 82 degrees and do scheduled water changes as you normally would.) Ruby Reef is great at killing ick and I highly recommend it.

I noticed that this medication seemed to work better once I took and stirred the bottom (substrate) up using a turkey baster. I used water pressure from the baster (for spot feeding corals or what have you) to "blow" off the debris which had settled on the rock. Once the debris was suspended--- I noticed the medication seemed more effective. It took nearly all of it before it made the difference.... Don't know that it was 100% a cure, but the fish did show a marked improvement. I have a 29 gal fish only tank--- did have some inverts: shrimp, feather duster, etc

To be honest I have heard so many different reviews on this product. I decided to just try it for myself. Now saying that I purchased and dosed my tank appropriately as explained on the box. I continued to check my water parameters daily and everything was good and consistent as always. Now after about 3 days I noticed my anenome's were closed and 4 of my corals where dying and 3 have completely died. I went to my LFS and they told me that I wasn't the only one who had experienced this issue with ruby reef. My tank has been running for about 4 years no issues and I've had my corals for 2 years with no issues until after I used this product. Everyone knows corals aren't cheap and it's a shame that they advertise that their product is reef safe but affects your corals, especially LPS type corals. No wonder countless LFS haven't carried their products in over 10 years.

Kick ich is very gentle on the fish but kills that ich..there are quicker products out there I've used but always experienced quite a bit of fish loss,not with this it may take a bit longer but I'll take that over losing a 100 dollar fish.

This stuff worked great!!! You must go all the normal stuff for ick, turn the temperature in your tank up and take charcoal out of your filter. You must use the recommended quantity of product for your tank.... But the ick was gone in 3 days!!! I would buy again

Used it to treat ick the first I saw it and it didn’t work for me. I followed the directions to the T!
