Had an issue with one nut on a new Kohler toilet seat, and another one that was probably tossed out a few years ago and the cheap steel replacement new was a poor substitute - rusted to where it wouldn't budge until soaked with penetrating oil. Sent a snail mail letter to Kohler (under the toilet seat one year warranty), but I was impatient and just bought this kit since it looked like the right parts. It's pretty simple. Just two 1.5" stainless steel (I believe) bolts and two plastic, cone-shaped wing nuts where the cone tightens when pressed into the mounting hole. I've had Kohler steel bolts on a toilet for years where they show zero signs of corrosion, and where zinc-plated steel (not my doing) has severely rusted. These definitely work with the Kohler Quick-Attach seats with the black mounting plate and the hinge mounts that clip on. Unsure if they work with anything else. Definitely not for any seat that came with wider plastic bolts. Most likely you'll never need to replace the bolts unless something is really wrong. They won't corrode in a bathroom environment and they're very strong. But I suppose anything can happen and I've heard of people using grinders to cut off stuck bolts when there was no other option. The nuts however are made of plastic and can weaken over time. It looks like they're designed to prevent overtightening to the point where the porcelain is damaged. They'll just slip. You'll need to get a feel for when it reaches its maximum torque before it will slip right back. I'd recommend avoiding pushing the bolts into or pulling out of the nut, which is way too easy to do. That can scrape/damage the threads on the nut, and I suspect that's why I needed new nuts. Always screw it on or off and it will reduce the chance of damaging the nut's threading. The only reason why I'm not giving this a 5-star review is because of how easy it is to damage the nut during installation.

These have been installed for some time now and still going strong. No issues with them. Decent quality and a good buy.

Just what we needed

Worked well to stabilize the removable koehler toilet seat. My koehler toilet is over 20 tears old. There’s no need to tighten the bolts excessively.

These are the only ones that fit on our toilet. They need to be replaced every 6 months or so as the bolts rust and the plastic ultimately breaks. 😩

One of the plastic pieces that came with the seat broke. This was the perfect fix and now I have an extra if it breaks again.

Exactly as described, worked with our Kohler branded toilet. Other screws in our local store were too small for the hole, only downside is the cost of shipping, not sure where else to purchase this part from otherwise.
