Anchor Hocking2 Piece Glass Measuring Cup Set

These are exactly what I wanted, but something happened after a few years and now nearly all the markings have come off in the dishwasher (I think that's why it happened.) I swear they're marked dishwasher safe so I don't know if it's my soap or what.

My roommates informed me that the labeling on our pyrex measuring cups was wearing off to the point where it was nearly unreadable, so I went to look for new ones that might last a bit longer. We'd had the old ones for 5 years and were hoping for something that would last longer.Figured I would try the anchor hocking brand instead this time, and ordered this set of two to replace the previous two. Well, when they arrived and I went to replace the old ones, I realized that my old 2-cup measuring cup had in fact been anchor hocking, and its measurements were still clearly visible after 5 years of use. I didn't need to replace that one after all, but it was really interesting to see the comparison between the two.

Of course these are new right now, but I've had Anchor Hocking before and I've had Pyrex. The marks on Pyrex come off over not very long. I don't know if it is the dishwasher, or what! However Anchor Hocking does not! I've gone out of my way to buy this brand since they no longer seem readily available in box stores.These measuring cups have no identification on them though showing them to be Anchor Hocking.

I bought them to measure out ingredients and there is nothing wrong with this product. Please note that the handle is open, so if you are used to the closed handle loop (Pyrex), you will need to pay attention. I have several of these in various sizes and use them daily.

The quality is decent, but the spout design could be better. If you have a relatively full cup (not above the top measuring line), and try to pour slowly, the liquid drips down the side much more than other brands I've used.

Very nice to have, but very heavy. I wish they were not so thick and heavy. I have delicate hands and these are built for a lumberjack.

One of these cups was fine — but the other one is defective. The lines are not level. Which is a problem, as that's the sole reason to buy this item. Unfortunately, I didn't unpack this for months because it was a busy time and I wasn't doing any baking. I noticed this when I used it for the first time and reported it immediately. But, by the time I looked at it, it was too late for a refund. So it goes. Lesson learned! But too bad this company is sending out defective items that are useless.

I love the glass part of these measuring cups but I don't love how the markings are wearing off the two cup piece. Soon it will be rendered useless. A measuring cup with no measurements is just a cup and I have plenty of those already.
