whats the difference between ultimate quick detailer and the quick detailer mist and wipe?

For my usage, cleaning mostly clean cars, this stuff (red bottle) is the best.  I go through almost a gallon of it per year.  I have used a lot of products from a lot of manufacturers and generally I keep coming back to the red bottle quick detailer to clean the classics.  It works great, is easy to use, and doesn't leave a haze.

The ultimate quick detailer (Black bottle) leaves behind a wax like film.  If the car was already cleaned, it works great and will give a better shine then the red bottle.  However, if the car isn't perfectly clean, I find the ultimate quick detailer (black bottle) tends to leave a hazy finish.  I have had a bottle of the ultimate (black bottle) stuff that came in a care package from a concours d'elegance several years ago, but still haven't used it up.  The combo cleaner / wax just doesn't have a good place for me.  The red bottle stuff is a better cleaner and the if I want a spray on wax, I clean the car first with the red bottle then use Meguires Ultimate Sythetic X-press spray wax.

Do you have to wax the car before using this product?

No, not necessarily. I do wax my car before winter and in the late spring but I use this product during the warm months to remove dust and light dirt. I use the product once or twice a week between washings so a waxing  is not needed before each use.  I do recommend Quick Detailer.

Is the ultimate quick detailer a better option for bird droppings?

Meguiar's QD works fine for bird droppings -- It is important that you remove the droppings as soon as you can after the bird's "visit," as the droppings contain acid and can and will damage your car finish (including the clear coat if left on your car for too long a period). Leave a bottle of this QD and a towel in your car just for such events.
