The Cosmic Slumber Tarot
C**E
Lacks a coherent system of symbols. Not at ALL suitable for real reading...
It's so sad that such a vibrant, beautiful deck, with such phenomenal packaging (it's one of the best boxes I've seen) shows such a massive lack of understanding of tarot. The suits have shifted meanings in ways that just don't make sense...why are the wands torches? How does Tillie justify using such an intensely firey palette for the cerebral suit of swords...why is there no discernable meaning behind the positioning of the court cards? All of these inconsistencies make sense when you read the introduction to the (very small, misleading and threadbare) accompanying book; Tillie Walden knows nothing about tarot and has no regard for the history or interconnected layers that are so prevalent in proper decks, made by humans who know what they're doing. It's sad. I love Tillie Walden's artwork: their foray into tarot, though, was deeply misguided and the deck is really useless if what you want is anything more than pretty pictures. Even to a beginner it's very clear that the artistic deviations from traditional meanings need a much more in-depth explanation and robust justification in the accompanying book OR should be depicted by more intuitive, nuanced images. The six of wands here doesn't reflect a victory: nor is the deck, sadly.

Absolutely love it!
Just got my order and have not done a reading with these cards yet but they're beautiful! I love how each suit has its own colour; purple for torches (wands), blue for cups, pink for swords and green for pentacles. The backs are kinda bright with a double border of white and purple (the same purple on the box). The size of the deck is similar to the Modern Witch Tarot, but the card stock is thinner and not too hard which makes it easier to shuffle. The instructional booklet included in the box is also in colour, sooooo pretty! I absolutely adore this deck♡

stunning cards
Absolutely adore these vibrant, wonderfully colourful cards with gorgeous artwork. They're excellent for gleaning messages from and would be great for more intuitive readers. The box is fabulous and so is the colour guide book. My only gripe is how slippery the cards are because of their glossy finish, but it may just be a case of getting used to it. I particularly love the mirroring of The Lovers and The Devil cards.I know one reviewer mentioned the red background for the swords suite but when you view the swords as knowledge gained from hard lessons... it makes sense. Look at the blue tones of the clothing those representing the swords wear and how they change depending on the card (e.g four of swords). Either way, if this deck is calling to you: get it!

I Love This!
This one is special, the little box is lovely and the small hardcover book too. Cards are shiny which is different but in a good way. Also a couple of extra cards which is good and the pictures are just gorgeous, absolutely adore it! I read from it every day!
