I have been using this for a month and it is working great! The fan is nice and strong and the construction is sturdy. Since this is not a full hood it needs to be close to the work, so I am moving back and forth from the work every couple joints. This means by now I have moved it up to my work piece and back out of the way over a thousand times. It remains tight and steady wherever I position it and there is minimal play in the arm.I read a review about the cord being short. It is, but if you are buying this you probably should be surrounded by the tools needed to lengthen the cord :)

Works decently for the price
The boom arm was much nicer than I expected. The fan is not the most powerful and needs to be positioned fairly close to what you are working on to be effective in taking in fumes. Even though the boom arm is good i have ended up ditching it and having the fan sit on my desk. works very well that way. Probably going to go the 140mm pc case fan route with a filter attached. High RPM static pressure fan would be much stronger than this thing for sure but then again this whole assembly is very cheap so you get what you pay for there. dont get it if you dont need the boom arm. I thought I did but i was worong.

Great value
What a wonderful device for such a good price. This fume extractor comes with an arm as well as a fitting that attaches at the back- it is sized to take a dryer-type hose to exhaust the air outside. I am impressed with this product.

Got a bad one - dangerous!
I received a defective one. It kept blowing the circuit breakers in my house. I tried to get a replacement. The vendor was totally unresponsive. After a month I gave up and requested a refund. So, mine didn't work & never got to try one that worked :(

Still need ventilation or a good in room air purifier to keep air safe.
Eh, it is okay as is, but it does not really filter the smoke, just keeps it out of your face. Luckily I have a very strong air purifier in the room that I set on high whenever I solder, so between that and the smoke "puller" as it should be called, things work well. Just don't expect this to be a save all smoke absorber. Unless you use the dryer vent attachment, and by dryer exhaust tube to exhaust out the window, this is not going to keep your room's air safe for breathing if you are doong a lot of soldering.

Works great, solid hardware.
I no longer feel like I'm giving myself cancer or brain damage, which is always a plus. It's nice to watch the fumes (and smell) disappear into the vent. The arm articulates pretty well and I haven't had to adjust the clamp since I installed it.

Does a pretty good job.
I've been soldering for years without a fan like this. Heaven only knows what I have done to my lungs. OK suction power when you get hood near your work. Thoughtful selection of fan attachments to direct exhaust away from work area. Overall pretty well made. Only wish it was a little more powerful.
