good Christian metal-core
This album is pretty amazing-- Christian metal-core played with a surprising amount of talent and complexity. Jazz influences appear frequently. There's something strange about the production which makes the music sound a little flat, though. The general tone doesn't vary all that much. A brighter sound would bring out the complexity in the music more. And the lyrics have to go-- I don't mind Christian lyrics, as long as they're intelligent, but these are a little too predictable and preachy. It's easy to ignore these short-comings when you're listening to the music, though, which is very original, and unlike anything else I've heard.

Worship Mathcore Style
This album is proving to be a surprise to me. It presents some early Mathcore riffs and the such w worship like lyrics. Interestingly enough, three members of Eso Charis (Arthur Green and the Putman brothers) played w Living Sacrifice during the Reborn days, w Corey Brandan (Putman) taking over on vocals for Norma Jean after Josh Scogin left...This project mixes the heavier guitar and drum lines w the occasional blues influences making for a unique blend of heavy music.

Josh No Likey Eso-Charis
Josh, are they really as bad as you say?LS are a christian band and you have no problem with them, and they have christian lyrics as well. I'm not a christian or anything but that doesn't keep me from listening to bands who are. Anywho...ESO-Charis is far from being 1 of the better bands of the genre. But since their vocalist just joined Norma Jean, I gave them a listen..They are decent. I consider Josh's 5 bucks for the CD and a shirt a good deal, but I doubt i'd pay $14.98 (Amazons price) for this cd.

solid state puts out solid records time and again, no matter your religious affiliation. this is one of SS's older releases and it's a good one. if you like this check out old zao, training for utopia, and society's finest, to name a few. btw, linkin park blows.

Eso Charis!!!
With the exception of Poison the Well absolutely NOBODY has put out a CD of this caliber. The vocals are brutal, the lyrics clean and genuinely good, you can just tell that Eso Charis has a passion for what they do and that always makes for the best music.I am very much an aethist (or however the hell you spell it) and to tell you the truth I don't JUST like Hardcore/Emo I like well written music. I actually like Linkin Park's second CD. It's ok. It doesn't even hold a candle to this though. I can listen to music and actually like it for what it is. That's a quality of a professional music reviewer. Now I'm not saying that I AM a professional music reviewer I'm just saying that I really know what I'm talking about.Ok, so you're looking at a reviewer who not only doesn't believe in god but can listen to underground hardcore as well as mainstream stuff.... you know you're getting an insightful, unbiased review. And this is one of the BEST entries in the hardcore/hard music scene; no, I take that back, this is one of the GREATEST albums in music. It doesn't get much better than this. This is the pinnacle of what good music is... Powerful, honest songs from the heart. Whether you're singing about your love for your god or whoever else you love it doesn't matter it's that kind of heartfelt emotion that makes for outstanding music. And that's EXACTLY what this is. Powerful, heartfelt emotioncore.

horrible
i got this cd along with a shirt at an LS show for 5 bones. I am glad i only payed 5. this is crap. i hate it when bands bring god into everything. the lyrics turn me off, its so onesided. and these people are obviously not open minded about anything. if you want jesus christ shoved down your throat then listen to this. the message is awful. the music is awful. the kid who says linkin park is awesome is a complete moron.

My favorite band right now!!
I don't know. I like Living Sacrifice and all but this side project beats all. I love the vocals. Intense yet you can understand it while listening to it along with its hard tone. Melodically put together with a bit of metalcore and add a touch of awesome vocals and you have an awesome band. A recipe for brutal melody.I used to just listen to Linkin Park which we all know is awesome but there is something about this side project that must continue to exist.I don't like those high toned or increased trebled vocals. I like the deeper and more understandable hard vocals we can all love and understand.God Bless Eso Charis!!!
