Works with HP Reverb G2 VR Headset on Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model - Flight Simulator
The CableCreation USB C to DisplayPort Adapter 8K@60Hz, USB Type C to DP 1.4 Cable Adapter [Thunderbolt 3/4 Compatible] is the **ONLY** adapter of its kind I have found so far that will allow me to run MS Flight Simulator 2020 in Virtual Reality on the MS-recommended HP Reverb G2 VR Headset on a high-end gaming laptop (a recent Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and Windows 11). I have tested multiple other adapters from different manufacturers (even a different one from CableCreation) and they do not work. Even an $80 Thunderbolt to DisplayPort adapter/dock does not work. Please note that HP told me they do not officially support anything other than a native DisplayPort for the Reverb G2, not DP Alt mode. (Note also that oddly, this adapter does NOT provide any usable video to the Reverb G2 Headset on a Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio with an NVIDIA A2000, but no hardware Microsoft makes is currently powerful enough to run FS2020 in VR mode anyway.) This adapter also works fine on multiple computers I tested with a regular large DisplayPort gaming monitor.

Works fine with AMD 6800 XT
Adapter works fine with a PowerColor AMD 6800 XT. So far used up to 2560 x 1440 @ 165Hz. I have to reseat the USB-C connector if anything power related occurs. Like a PC crash and restart or monitor gets unplugged. Not sure if it's my graphics card or the adapter. During usual PC soft restarts or regular power on, this is not necessary.

Does the job but with a couple quirks.
I needed a USB-C adapter that could output to my 49" ultrawide monitor with a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440. Thankfully this supports the resolution well! However, this adapter has a couple drawbacks compared to connecting my laptop via a dedicated port. First, my monitor will not go into "sleep" mode whenever the computer is off. I need to manually turn off the monitor or the backlight will continuously remain on with a black screen. Secondly, this is VERY picky about which port it's connected to. Standard USB3 will have lots of glitches and jitters in the screen output when used on a 2021 Dell Precision. This MUST be connected to a thunderbolt port to output a clear image at these higher resolutions without lots of glitchiness. Overall it does the job I need, just with a couple quirks tossed in.

Supports 1920x1080 resolution at 144hz
I received my CableCreation USB C to DisplayPort adapter today and was able to connect it to my HP Envy x360 15inch (which only had 1 USB C thunderbolt port). From there, I was able to use a DisplayPort cable and connect the CableCreation adapter to the DisplayPort on my BenQ-XL2411 (24inch) monitor and achieve 144hz (144.something hz was the exact number according to my Windows display settings). As a result, I am able to achieve 144hz on 1920x1080 resolution (the recommended resolution on my Windows laptop) and 1280x960 stretched (the resolution I use when I play CSGO) on my BenQ monitor via the DisplayPort connection. Ultimately, I did return this as I had bought a new USB C Hub (Tiergrade 12 in 1 USB C Hub) that already had a DisplayPort which similarly supported the 144hz I desired on my BenQ monitor. That said, it worked well, and I hope this helps.

Decent, but not for high res on MBP (at least in my experience)
The adapter works. Just not quite well enough. I get the distinct impression that this will probably work well on windows or a Linux machine, but Apple being apple... you can't get this adapter to connect over a Thunderbolt 3 port. Or at least I can't. Instead, it locks in as a USB 3.1 on my 2018 MBP which limits the throughput and lops the top end of my native resolution options. This is, unfortunately, not uncommon for Apple products as they're very particular about handshake negation and support from what I've experienced. I can scale to 5120x1440 @60hz, but honestly, it doesn't look amazing, and the monitor itself clearly lists its output as 3840x1080 @60hz. As you can imagine, scaling from 3840 to 5120 leaves quite a bit to be desired. On Windows or Linux? Probably ok. (did not verify) Only want up to roughly 4k resolution and a 60hz refresh rate? Scaling resolutions ok with you? Again, probably ok. Want to get the full res out of your ridiculously large 49" ultra wide monitor on your Mac? Not so much. Current Status: In search of another cable / adapter that isn't so allergic to Apple's Thunderbolt 3 and MacOS.

Works for Index
I was able to connect my laptop to a Valve Index just fine using this cable. Make sure your laptop's USB-C port is actually Thunderbolt compatible with dp alt mode before buying this (or the laptop itself), though. If it does, there will be something in the specs about the USB-C port being connected to the video card. Many laptops have this port but it isn't hooked up to the video card, so this adapter won't do anything for you.

It works for System76 laptop to Valve Index
The USB Type C to DP 1.4 Cable Adapter works perfectly for connecting my Valve Index headset to my System76 Kudu laptop so that I can play Steam VR games. No intermittent glitches. Just a solid performance. I made sure my laptop would work with this adapter by checking System76 specifications that the USB Type C connects directly to my Nvidia graphics card and supports Display Port 1.4.

I recently bought a ultrawide monitor and for 144hz I needed display port. The monitor came with display port cable but the laptop had mini display port only. After researching and looking at some dp-mini-dp cables and dp-dp -> dp-mini-dp convertors I got scared about the monitor port or GPU frying since alot of cables are not vesa certified etc. And so I decided to buy a dp-dp -> dp-usbc convertor as I trusted that the monitor cable was vesa certified. This connector has worked great it looks and feels very premium to touch and see. It heats a little bit on long hours of heavy gaming but easily supports 3440*1440p with HDR @144hz with freesync/gsync
