Gimbal Bearing Seal & Gasket Kit for Mercruiser Alpha One Gen1, Alpha Gen 2 R/MR

Got the kit everything looked great. Removed old bearing and new would not fit into the transom. Measured od .020" larger than original. Had to modify to fit. To add insult to injury. the gasket was extremely brittle and with a slight touch snapped.I would not recommend. Buy a better brand. Its in the boat so we will see if the bearing holds up

description said it was a direct replacement to oem 30-879194A02, that is incorrect like another review said the ne bearing is .02in larger then old. beware

Installed this fumble bearing. Seemed to install ok. Installed drive. It made a clanking noise. Must be joints. Replaced ujoints. Installed drive. Still made a clanking noise. Off again with the drive. Maybe didn’t seat gimble bearing all the way in ? Slammed in the bearing a little harder. Back in the drive. Still made a clunking like bad ujoint noise. Off with the drive again. Pulled the bearing out and micrometer. Damn , this bearing was a full 1/4” thicker that the original bearing. Clunking would go away with drive in trim up position. Because then it had room away from pushing on the ujoints. What a waste of time. 7 times drive in and off. New ujoints. When all along it was this cheap bearing. Last time I try to save $20.Drive is an alpha 1 Gen 2.Do not buy.
