I love the product but the key will not come out when the lock mechanism is in the locked position. Is this the way it is designed or is it faulty?

My key definitely comes out in the locked position.

Is there a way to order multiple locks that use the same key? In a hardware store you can usually match the serial number etc

You can call 1.800.716.0888 for additional keys,...and they DO come with a 5 digit number on them

It appears that the lock was made to be fitted with an inside opener latch, if so I need to purchase one ?

Margaret I’m too late to answer this question but you might read it anyway if you look at the latch with a little silver handle is the locks from the outside if you look at the top of that it has a hole in it is meant to be for cord or string to go through your fence and have an inside opening. You don’t have to buy nothing else just a string or cord hang a piece of wood on it to keep the string from flopping around too much and there you’ve got it. Sorry I didn’t answer this before

Will this work in a horizontal position as well as in the vertical position? As in a "gate" opening upwards rather than outwards?

I don’t know why not it works vertical I don’t see why it wouldn’t work horizontal up and down it has the latch that comes out so I don’t I don’t see a problem and it but you might get an answer that better than mine if nothing else can get a hold of the manufacturer made it and find out
