Lewis and Clark Trail Guide

I spent months planning our educational field trip along the trail, and purchased nearly all of the L&C trail books. This is the one I marked up and used the most. I loved that it has the dates on the map of where they camped. If you are trying to pick and choose books for planning your trip, make sure this is one of them.

This is a digital reproduction of average quality due to poor contrast especially for the maps. With the exception of the cover, none of the maps are in color. The routes are marked in a lighter grey, which makes reading the L&C and the modern automobile routes difficult (though not impossible, I admit). However, I found the marks on the maps of the L&C campsites almost illegible. I will need to manually mark up each map with a highlighter to carefully color in the routes. Overall, it's not the book I expected to receive for the price paid.

Very handy if you are researching, or merely interested in the history of opening the west. Very interesting to me indeed.

Could it just be me? Or is this offering overly hard to utilize? I wanted to retrace the L&C journey in retirement and purchased this with high expectations. In this day and age most travel/journeys are tied to Lat & Long. But this offering has nothing to pinpoint the exact locations. Very disappointed. I donated it to the library and moved onto something else.

I've really enjoyed reading this book. It also has great maps that can be followed.

Great book and it would have been fun to use it to drive across country! Highly recommend to anyone just studying History or planning a trip.

I enjoyed the quick read of the journals. I wassurprised that there wer so many other things they didthat other books don't spend time on. The maps addeda lot. Especially liked the Oregon and Washington part. Ithink they would be a wonderful addition to a high schoolor college history class.

I really enjoyed the edited journals. They are a nice contrast to other books that just concentrate on a few events. The maps were a nice addition and the campsite locations telling me where they were was something I missed in all other books.
