Best trash can I've owned!
simplhuman definitely makes the nicest trash cans out here. Actually, pretty much everything they make is fantastic! They're expensive, but you get what you pay for. Particularly like this trash can. This trash can is the perfect size for our apartment, with me and my wife. It looks great, does not attract fingerprints, and is easy to wipe off. The opening mechanism works perfectly, is easy to activate since it's the width of the trash can, feels very solid, and has a soft close mechanism in it. When you use the appropriate simple human bags for it, you cannot see the bag at all when it's closed, which makes the whole thing look a lot cleaner.Speaking of the bags, love their trash bags! They're a lot more money than other trash bags you could get from Costco or anywhere else (which would also work with this trash can, if desired). However, it's another case of getting what you pay for. Simplehuman bags come in a dispenser package that slides into the back of this trash can and opens into the inside. When you pull out the used trash bag, there's another one waiting for you right there. They're very heavy duty and you can mash trash down into this thing without worrying that it's going to break (never had a bag break yet). Since they are made to perfectly fit the can, you can get a lot more trash in here than you would otherwise, and go through fewer bags.

worth the $$$
I didn't think I'd be enthusiastically reviewing a $100+ trash can, and yet, here we are. This can is worth every penny.I saw one at a buddy's house, and liked the clean, polished look, and the features -- the spare trash bag holder, the odor containment, the hefty foot pedal that opens and closes the lid smoothly, the way the bag is locked into place. Then I looked up the price online, and went a little aghast. I didn't love paying $130 for a 45 liter trash can, but I love having it in my kitchen. It fits with the rest of my chrome appliances, and is nice to look at, unlike the usual black and white plastic. It's clean, fingerprint resistant, durable, well designed, and well made. I swear, it even fits more than the 45 liters it claims.Do you absolutely need this can? Maybe not. Am I confident you'll like it as much as I do? Definitely.Oh, and the simplehuman trash bags are great, but you don't have to use them. I've used Costco ones in a pinch -- they fit fine, though they're not as nice.

Probably the nicest looking garbage can on the market
It’s expensive, but it’s so worth it. I looked for a trash can for legit almost 4 months. There was only one trash can that came close to this, but the quality was much worse for the price. This trashcan was by far the nicest looking, and most well built one I’ve found. Simplehuman is expensive but they make really nice looking stuff. It comes with a warranty, and they also sell replacement parts. It’s very well built and great quality. Over a year now and through a move it looks new. I Ended up buying a second one for recycling too.Edit: About 2 years and the trash can still look and functions like new. I sometimes will force close it and I used to actually lug this up my stairs to throw cat litter in it from 3 boxes. Would have upto probably 10- 20 lbs cat litter in it, lugging down the stairs. I accidentally smacked it against my wood post. Use it as a main now and it looks and functions as brand new.

Best trash can I've ever used
We love this trash can and brand. This is our second purchase. Our first one lasted us 5 years. It's a good quality trash can especially for the price. It's a soft close lid. So nice that you don't have to touch the lid to throw things away. We prefer the gray plastic lid to the metal one, as the plastic lid is easier to clean. The metal lid on our old one bent and would not shut all the way. If you had anything stinky, the smell would seep out. It lasted four years before that happened. Hopefully the plastic lid will hold up better.

Loving my new trash can so far.
This is a nice step up from my old OXO 12 gallon metal trash can that broke years ago but was still useable. The lid is completely silent and functions well. It is very nice looking. I like the way the bag is inserted so that it doesn't show from the outside. I have only used the bags that came with the can. They are of good quality as far as I can tell (I've only have been using the can for a week.) I haven't tried using regular tall kitchen bags yet. The opening is wider than my old can so I can get wider pieces of trash in, like greasy pizza boxes. It's probably an optical illusion but it does seem like it holds more than my old can of the same size, something about not having that extra plastic can insert in there. I was concerned to not have one which I thought would make it more difficult to clean spills but the bag stays on so well and as long as I have a good quality bag inside, I don't anticipate too many spills.
