I had the great pleasure of reading this book in its manuscript form, in 1979, as an undergraduate at Cornell University when Professor Birnbaum was a visiting professor there. The book originated in his doctoral thesis, and he gave us access to it as part of the course. I have returned to this book many times over the years, and now, as a practitioner of Chinese medicine, it means that much more to me. I recommend it to other healthcare providers and to students of OM.

Its the only source i know for the sutra called Contemplation of the Two Bodhisattvas King of Healing and Supreme Healer and the Sutra on the Merits of The Seven Buddhas of Lapis Lazuli Radiance The Masters of Healing, a true jewel in the hand for the sick or needy endowed with a noble mind and good intentions

A comprehensive, very thorough and informative study. The kind of specialised niche subject that is hard to find. Great book!
