This book is the best, it’s super funny and the illustrations are absolutely amazing, lots to look at. Probably best for 3~4yo+ but my 2.5yo is obsessed with pirates and demands to read this book every night.

If Neil Gaiman’s name is on it I am going to read it. Absolutely delightful children’s tale -for any age. Lovely read aloud. The kindle book lets you zoom in and out and focus on different parts - makes reading it over and over ‘less painful’ at the 100th time ;) Seriously though, it has great illustrations which add to the reading experience and a lovely charming story. I also own the book format. Glad the library has audio.

A great story for your favorite child 🚸! Beautiful illustration, funny rhyming, easy to follow along story! I enjoy reading it aloud to myself as a Voiceover Artist!

Cute story and beautifully drawn art. Sort of a Spelljammer faerie tale for today. Pirate stew! Pirate Stew! My boy is going to love it as a xmas gift I believe. Some of his favorite stories are by Neil and Charles Vess so he is used to the writing style and I hope he likes Chris Riddell's art which I think is fantastic and fantastical. It is full of color and bright vivaciousness with a touch of caricature. The book is oversized with really high quality color retention paper with hard and thick covers. It is long enough to be a single book to read in a night without having to dip into two books. Highly recommend.

I’ve loved Gaiman my whole life, but my kids aren’t quite old enough for even most of his kid-aimed books. SO, when I saw the fun picture book for the littles, I preordered it. I was NOT disappointed. It’s hilarious, awesome story, wonderful illustrations, with a main chorus/theme that will get stuck in your head. Ha! We loved it so much, bought it as a present for my nephews and now they love it too.

My 5-year-old loves this book, and thought the ending was hilarious. We love the illustrations, and as the parent reading the book I'm happy that the cadence of the writing makes it an easy and enjoyable book to read aloud.

We checked this out from our library several times and finally bought our own copy. Cute story and love the illustrations too.
