Physical condition of the paperback books.
I debated whether or not to give three or four stars. Not on the writing - John Green is amazing. (Truth be told, I've already read two of these and wanted my own copies because I would pick them up again.) Now let's talk about the condition of the books, I ordered paperback. Most people are complaining about the box it comes in, but mine is fine. A little bent, but the books still fit, and I'm putting them on a bookshelf anyway. No biggy. Here's where my concerns are.A.) The bottom of each book is a little worn. Not awful, they're paperback and they were shipped. It's just not very aesthetically pleasing.B.) The Fault In Our Stars cover is about a centimeter shorter than the pages. This was clearly on purpose, but it's most likely going to annoy me when I read it.C.) The most IMPORTANT and CONCERNING problem - The glue job. Not all of the books are as bad, but in An Abundance of Katherines, it looks like the middle pages might fall right out when I read them. If they do, I'm absolutely asking for it to be replaced/refunded or something.

Just as I expected
Wow this boxset came in the mail really unexpectedly and boy was I not disappointed when it did.Firstly, the actual box of this box set is amazing and I could've read all of the different little quotes on it for ages, except, there were books inside. The books were hardcover and beautiful and there were signatures from John Green in Looking For Alaska and The Fault In Our Stars just as I'd expected. The actual content of the books are amazing. It is an understatement to say the John Green has written 4 of possibly the best YA books of our time in LFA, TFIOS, An Abundance of Katerines and Paper Towns. The stories are so full of content and meaningful life lessons and hilarious dialogue that it is impossible not to compare these books to the best of the best of YA writing--like JK Rowling or Rick Riordan or Cath Crowley or Melina Marchetta. And just like these amazing authors, his books resonate to the reader and I can guarantee that these books will be loved. The actual content of the stories in the books are so different, though, that it's sometimes to believe that it is the same author's writing. But you can bet that in every book you will cry, you will laugh, and you will absorb.

Love, love, love John Green
My only regret is that I can only read each John Green book for the first time, once. "The Fault in Our Stars" has been reviewed extensively and I will not spend more time on it here. John Green himself explains in various interviews that he tried to honor teens with terminal illnesses by allowing the characters freedom to blossom. His whole, fascinating interview is in the Atlantic Monthly. The thing I love about the books is that Green writes with such empathy for his characters, allowing them to develop without any sense of authorial manipulation or agenda. They speak as teens would speak (conveying their doubt and stammer without drawing attention to unnatural literary devices like stammers written out), and their feelings are conveyed mainly through dialogue. There is a paucity of descriptive phrases. There is little exposition. The books start in the midst of conflict, and from the first paragraph, the reader knows that he or she is in good hands. From the four books, one can understand how Green has learned from book to book. He is such a promising author. I await the next novel.

Can't Go Wrong With This Gift
I bought this for my 15 year old daughter and she LOVED it. John Green is her favorite author next to the Harry Potter series. These books are great and have been made into movies due to their popularity. I have read parts of them and I can see why they are so popular. Mr. Green is a very good writer. By the way in case you don't already know, he has a Youtube channel with a wide variety of topics covered that is very much worth your time to check out. He does a weekly blog that is a communication with his brother and it's pretty interesting. Very popular too.In case you didn't know he was a school teacher, maybe still is, and he started branching out into media and has very successfully ventured into the big time of several areas. It's quite a story and I'm sure there will be biographies written about John Green if there aren't already.

If you need some convincing, here it is.
Are you a nerdfighter? Have been meaning to read these books? You have them in paperback already? You already have Looking for Alaska in hardcover, but unsigned? No matter what your situation, if you're tempted, don't hesitate to get this boxed set.First, one could look at the slipcase indefinitely and find something new over and over again. The dust jackets have shiny, indented and raised parts, rather than the usual stark and flat kind of jacket you see on most books. The books themselves are gorgeous and have an especially cool feature that Yesenia hinted at above. The pages before the bulk of the text begins are illustrative, which is a nice touch. I've noticed that in mine, the copy of Looking for Alaska doesn't have a Printz Award marking on its dust jacket (the pictures I've seen of other sets indicate that it's supposed to), but I'm content with it being a bit special. Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars are signed as they're supposed to be and there's hardly a knock on any of them, despite getting all the way to Australia.I couldn't be happier. ^_^

A beautiful set...
A complete set of four John Green novels. The Fault in our Stars - Hazel meets a beautiful yet tragic plot twist at her Cancer Support Group named Augustus. A sad but heart warming tale of love and endurance.Looking for Alaska - Miles starts boarding school with his fascination for famous last words, and falls for the funny, tragic, messed-up Alaska. But then ‘the event’ happens and Miles is left to wonder: Why? A compelling story of self-discovery.Paper Towns - Who is Margo? This question is one that Quentin constantly asks himself, but can never really answer. Only, one night, after Margo drags him from his house on an ingenious revenge rampage before disappearing, the question suddenly means everything. Embarking on an adventure, Quentin and his friends set out to follow clues and discover the Margo they think they know may not be who they think at all. Deep and insightful. An Abundance of Katherines - Colin has one type: Girls named Katherine (19 of them) who dump him. So, to heal his heart, the washed-up child prodigy along with his best friend goes on a road trip, trying to figure out what’s going wrong. As he hunts pigs, visits graves and performs interviews, he creates a relationship theorem and winds up falling (quite literally) for a girl with a different name! Funny and entertaining, with fantastic anecdotes. Oddly insightful. The four books come together in a box, which is beautifully designed. The books themselves, as noted above, are well written and worth the read. My personal favourite is An Abundance of Katherines. The packaging was decent and the delivery was made on time. This item would be a perfect gift for someone who loves reading.

The description clearly states "John Green - The Collection includes five novels from the critically acclaimed, best-selling master of modern storytelling, brought together for the first time." The box set only has four novels - it does not include the Will Grayson novel - poorly advertised!!
