The shroud cover tho....
First time replaced bathroom exhaust fan. Tip to not waste time like I did, check the side of existing vent left or right, and buy the replacement exhaust fan with same side.Replaced mid 90's Broan fan. Comparing fan noise, this one is obviously quieter but you can hear it on.The shroud cover clips, think the engineer was fired before the design was completed because it makes no sense why they didn't keep the simple spring action from 90's design.Finicky to balance the install springs on each side as one side wants to pop off if press too hard on one side. Once pushed up in place and there is a 1" gap opening around, say a little prayer to the bath fan powers to be and give it a little love tap around the shroud and it should close up to be flush (mm opening if looking closely).

Great quiet fan to exhaust steam in your bathroom
If you are replacing a large size bathroom exhaust vent, this one is the one to get. I actually had to enlarge the opening slightly to get this one to fit but that's a lot better than having to fill in empty spaces around a smaller sized one. It is whisper quiet. Yes you can hear the fan but it's not overpowering. Keep in mind this one is for smaller size bathrooms. Make sure you measure carefully the size of your bathroom to pick the right size fan or you're going to waste your money.

Fantastic
I bought this to replace a massive 40+ year-old light-fan-heat unit that was becoming a fire hazard. Because the old unit was a completely different size (and ancient), I knew I wasn’t going to be able to use the retrofit feature or do the installation from the bathroom itself. (However, if you’re buying this expecting to do the full installation roomside, you’ll be disappointed. Only the fan and light can be swapped without attic access, but installing the box requires attic.) The installation was pretty straightforward and as-expected; I won’t go into the nitty-gritty of how awful working in my attic is or the troubles of replacing an ancient fan, but that’s not this fan’s fault. (Should caution, I have construction experience, and doing a first-time installation of this would not be a good job for the average DIYer.) Connection to existing 4” duct was easy. The tabs to place the fan with the correct drywall spacing were a nice touch. The unit only screws into a joist against one side, so I was worried during installation that it would sag and not sit level, but that hasn’t been an issue since the whole thing has been assembled. Installing electrical and fan were a breeze. The clips on the cover were annoying but to be expected. The cover has slight gaps against the drywall but I’m hoping it’ll settle into place over time. The light is super bright and the fan quality is superb - quiet and clears condensation from a large bathroom with ease without making the room feel cold or dry. Overall, this is an incredible fan that I would absolutely buy again, but my one caveat is that if I had bought it thinking I could do the entire installation roomside, I would’ve been disappointed.

Bathroom exhaust fan and light
Love this fan, so quiet and light is definitely bright. Installation was straight forward, and quality is fantastic. Definitely recommend for any bathroom refit or new install.

Very loud "whisper"
This fan replaces a 50cfm 2.5 sone Broan that is about 40 years old. That Broan still ran fine, but it had a deep growl that didn't respond to lubrication, so I looked for the quietest small fan. This Nutone is rated for .7 sones, so I expected near silence. I was more than a little disappointed; at least the Broan's growl is gone.I saw the little lite on this unit and was hoping it wouldn't be too dim, my old Broan had a 60 watt equivalent led and the brightness was about perfect. This Nutone may be too bright.Nutone brings out separate wiring for light and fan, like most do; maybe if I get ambitious I'll try a dimmer to both tame the led and the hurricane. On a good note, installation was well documented and pretty simple, but in my install I had to access the attic. Finished installation looks pretty good, but the outcome was not as I hoped.

Quiet!
This is a far better bathroom exhaust fan than others that are out there. This one is able to be installed by code unlike many that I looked at here. It was easy to install, I did have to go into my attic but if you have everything in the right place you may get away with not having to but I was not that lucky. The cover was hard to get just right, i must have done something wrong but I finally got it. The led color is warm and bright. This fan is also super quiet.
