Great Way to Upgrade a Shower to a Rain Shower and Wand
These Delta Shower Columns are a great way to upgrade a traditional shower valve and head to a rain shower head and adjustable height wand on a bar. They come with everything you need except the shower head and wand. If you can upgrade your shower valve trim and get a matching head and wand then it will be a matched set. The hardest part of the installation is probably drilling the holes for the bar mount. The kit comes with toggle type anchors. If you happen to land on a wall stud then you won't need them. The kit also comes with a 1/2" adapter that will take the place of the existing shower arm. The column features a built-in diverter valve located at the bottom of the bar. It is hard to see in the stock photos, but it is a twist to turn valve located right where the shower hose attaches to the bar. It allows you to switch between the head and the wand. I think these are a simple way to upgrade your shower experience without tearing out a wall and changing out valves and in-wall plumbing. 5 stars.

Retrofit your shower into handheld and rainfall heads...
Designed to allow you to keep your current in-wall plumbing, this is an ingenious and high-quality Delta shower system. Unlike a new install, this system is designed to work with an already installed shower valve, riser pipe and elbow. I demonstrate the process of installing this system in the video I've included, but here's a short description of that process: 1) Remove current shower head and shower arm and replace with threaded brass nipple from kit. 2) Place reinforcer plate around new nipple end and mark place where holes must be drilled to add bolts to strengthen structure. 3) Place molly bolts through upper reinforcing plate and tighten. Cover with plastic escutcheon. 4) Measure to lower attachment point. Mark for holes to be drilled in wall. Drill for lower attachment point. 5) Place molly bolts through lower attachment hardware and tighten hardware to wall. Cover with lower plastic escutcheon. Tighten assembly to upper and lower attachment points with set screws 6) Place new upper shower arm on new riser and attach with set screw. 7) Attach flexible hose to lower threaded attachement point. Now a few caveats that must be borne in mind. First, you must be certain when drilling holes that there are no water supply or electrical lines you could hit in the wall where you are drilling. This is probably not as much of an issue with the upper attachment point as the lower. Second, when drilling holes, be careful not to crack your shower wall, especially if your shower walls are made of ceramic/porcelain tile or stone. Third, when using with an already-installed valve, make certain to match the color and length of this Delta assembly to your existing shower hardware and dimensions. You will really want to buy new shower trim when installing this sytem unless your old hardware is a perfect color match and looks new enough to not clash with your new system. Fourth, this system comes without a rainfall shower head or handheld shower unit. Delta makes matching hardware, but it will add betwen $200 and $500 to the cost of this system, depending upon quality of the shower heads you choose. Overall, this is a fine system, well made and very attractive.

Great looking retrofit kit
Very nice looking retrofit kit. You need to have your own shower head and valve cover kit to match. Uses existing plumbing which makes and easy but kinda pricey upgrade option. Very awesome quality and look.
