Great book, wonderful variety of afghans for all skill levels
This book has a great variety of patterns. Some for beginners and seasoned knitters of all levels. There are simple patterns and intricate ones. some to finish off quickly on large needles, others to make as an heirloom. There are patterns for using up scraps and making lovely multicolored afghans. I especially like the fact that I have one book that I can take with me that provides so many patterns to choose from. Everyone I have made from this book is lovely and many people ask what is the name of the pattern when I am working on afghans from this book. It is a great value with so many options for type and style of afghan to make. Will always be one I keep in my library.

Mostlty Good Patterns
Im a beginner so I'm glad I have a book where I can actually do the patterns. Most of the afghans are easy enough for me. Out of the 52 designs there are only a few that I don't care for, and one that is well....ugly. I just wanted something simple and cozy and reasonable attractive. To me, its all about the colors you choose.

Throws to Keep!
I've been looking for a comprehensive afghan book for a long time, and I think this has the best variety of difficulty levels, patterns and textures. I am making the Embossed Diamonds afghan, and I love how the pattern unfolds using just one strand of yarn instead of three to keep it a lighter weight. I think this is a great book to share with friends who are looking for a new pattern, and I look forward to inviting them over to see what this book offers. I bet they will buy the book, too!

apparently re-used patterns
Normally I buy quite a few of DRG's books and enjoy them too. This one sounded confusing as maybe it was a rehash from their older books? But I bought it an yway and sure enough, I found at least one pattern that I have in another book of theirs. Quite a few of these afghans are meant to be done in a weekend a nd use 2-3 strands together of worsted or use bulky or even thicker yarns, The pictures of these afghans do not look very interesting. The nicest afghans are done with one strand of worsted or of sport weight yarn. But none of them interest me enough to make any of them. However if you want quickie afghans this book should satisfy. I am currently into interesting patterns to make squares. There are several of these books available such as those from Knitters magazine or if more adventurous from stitch books and making up your own squares. The book is well presented with large type and page size photos. I am rating this book on the low end but that is because of my own special interests.
