There is no taste or smell, and although the pills are somewhat lengthy, they are not too difficult to swallow. I find them effective; working in healthcare and encountering people with significant illness this past winter, I did not feel under the weather once. I have not noticed a significant impact on energy or mood, but it has not negatively affected them either. However, I would caution against starting with such a high dose of 1000 mg if you are not accustomed to it, as it may cause gastrointestinal distress. I appreciate this brand for its quality and for having limited ingredients in their supplements.
