Magnificent exploration of " home"
it’s not often that an art book, a coffee table book, can transport the reader to a different place and time. This gorgeously crafted showcase of spectacularly designed homes combines gorgeous photography and insightful commentary that brings these architectural efforts to life.More than that, diving into this book gives you a sense of 'home'. The effort to conceive and build-- not artworks but functional dwellings in which the owners make their daily lives -- is truly brought forward in the photography and text.Anyone who is planning on building a new home or is interested in exploring adventurous, creative forward thinking home Designers in residential spaces should check this book out. Gordon, a seasoned veteran of architectural writing, has outdone himself in this magnificent offering. He’s a fantastic writer and I bet he makes a mean cappuccino.

Instilling much needed light
“Assembled in Light” is literary “architecture illuminated”! A breathtaking book of not only breathtaking projects all over the place but also featuring a beautifully written preface by the master architect concerned, Chris Coy, a foreword by Pilar Viladas as well as the “Inflections of Light” text by the author of this great book, Alastair Gordon! In brief, “Assembled in Light” instills overwhelming beauty, much needed light, structure and yes, hope into our lives recently turned upside down by the pandemic!

Barnes and Coy book
Have always been a fan of Barnes and Coy Architects homes. I even had written to ask if they had a book highlighting a collection of their home designs. Now one is available. Beautiful homes with photographs, and floor plans in a separate section. Great selection.

Assembeled with Talent & Taste
The clean, pure, ground breaking designs of Barnes Coy’s architecture speak for themselves. The body of work is so distinctive and recognizable it stands above the crowd of modern architects building all over the Hamptons.Alastair Gordon did a masterful job of assembling a beautiful monograph and brilliantly writing a wonderful tribute to BCA. His passionate love of architecture and sensitive attention and appreciation of every detail paint a beautiful picture to the reader.Barbara DeVries designed a gorgeous book that flows beautifully. My first job out of RISD was working at the Yale University Press as a book designer so I was especially eager to see the finished product. I love architecture and collect beautiful books on the subject, so it’s a subject I feel strongly about. I must say I was totally impressed with Barbara DeVries beautiful design. I love the grid Barbara came up with, Michael Mundy's large photographs, the type design and type sizes, the end papers and the paper stock. Everything about "Assembled in Light" is first class; it’s a spectacular tribute to Robert Barnes, Chris Coy's longtime collaborater. It’s a totally quality package; I couldn’t have done better myself and wouldn’t want to change a thing.A. Beckenstein

A beautiful, informative showcase of Barnes Coy-designed houses
The structures envisioned and realized by Barnes Coy Architects are unique. Some may be considered other-worldly, yet all are (thankfully) of this world. They imbue the words "Let There Be Light" with new meaning for our time.Through the pages of this gloriously-photographed book and the descriptive text, it is possible to view these dwellings as original works of art -- whether vicariously, or for those lucky enough, to wander through these rooms and outdoor spaces in person. It promises to be a magical experience in both cases.

Creative Inspiration!
This gorgeous book is amazing in the in-depth, and personal observations of the principal architect, Chris Coy. I had picked it up for its stunning photography by Michael Mundy, but then got completely immersed in the life journey of Chris Coy. It’s rare to have such insight into how someone’s creative visions come about. Reading his amusing anecdotes, and learning of his many steps to creating his beautiful architecture, makes it a delight to read, as well as the visual feast of the work itself.

Creative Modernism
Finally a monograph about a great small architecture firm whose style is distinctly modern, sculptural and individual. While most “star” architects do the same house over and over, every Barnes Coy house is unique and personal. Presentation, text and photography are first rate!
