I've been using this beard trimmer for years, and it still works perfectly. One great, and less-than-obvious, feature is how the blade unit pops off for cleaning, lubrication, or replacement. Check out the video to see just how easy it is.

This trimmer works just like my previous one did. It has a main beard hair adjustable length trimming feature, an supports between 1 and 20 mm in length. There are two combs, one for 1-10mm, the other for 11-20mm. The razor supports being submerged in water. It also has a special trimmer extension for fine adjustments, which is the main reason I bought it. I like this feature the best for fine trimming of my moustache, and sometimes for nose hair. The quality is very good, as I would expect with a Japanese product, and it feels sturdy and reliable. It charges with an included cable that plugs into the base. The only improvement would be for a wall charger to be added (that holds the razor in place on the wall, rather than having to attach a cable).

First of all, this is a completely unbiased review as I paid for this item, unlike most of the Vine reviews that you see posted. I was recently in the market for a new beard trimmer. I had grown tired of the one I was using (Braun Cruzer) and it seemed like it wasn't as powerful as it used to be. It also felt like it wasn't holding its charge as well and as a result, starting to pull my beard while trimming. So I set off to do some research to find a replacement... I probably looked for a couple of weeks before finally settling on the Panasonic ER-GB80-S. My biggest drawback was the price. I had a very hard time paying $100 for something I was going to use mostly once a week. Not to mention, it was also over $40 more than the hair clipper that I purchased with it. With that being said, I don't mind paying a little bit extra for a high quality product. I know it says that it can be used to hair but I prefer to have a dedicated clipper for that. Initially I was skeptical because most of the reviewers had were a part of the Vine program. But, they're SUPPOSED to give a fair and honest review, right? So I eventually caved and purchased it because I wasn't thrilled by my other options. I was impressed that it had 39 different settings and could be rinsed under the faucet for quick and easy cleaning. When I received it in the mail, I honestly couldn't wait to use it. I do most of my shaving on Friday night/Saturday morning (because of my profession, I don't have to shave as frequently as others might). So Friday finally arrived and it was time to put it to a test. I noticed a huge difference immediately! Trimming my beard to stubble was enjoyable again! My hair wasn't pulled once and the motor never lost an ounce of power. I tried a few of the different settings before going to the shortest one. The dial turned smoothly and clicked at each individual setting. With so many options, it would be hard to find one that you didn't like! The precision trimmer worked flawlessly also. I mostly use that to trim around my mustache area. Cleaning and oiling it was a breeze. I ran it under water to remove all the hair and haven't seen any side effects from doing so. As with any product that has moving parts, maintenance is key. You should always use the provided oil before and after each use to keep it in top shape! So why only 4 stars? Because there's not an option to give it 4.5 stars and the price. While I'm extremely happy that I purchased it (it provides me with the most comfortable shaving experience I've ever had), I feel that it could have been offered for a lesser price than what I paid for it ($100). The travel pouch also left a lot to be desired. I don't expect it to last very long but I also don't plan on using it that often either. With all that being said, if you use it for everything that it offers, maybe it's worth $100 to you. Either way, you won't be sorry that you bought it!

This product has been wonderful. It is of very good quality and has been with me for many years. The battery lasts two or three uses and it has not rusted or been damaged when I have wet it. It is worth noting that I have wet it a little, washed the blades and blown the internal part where the little motor goes and absolutely nothing has happened. They are still in very good condition. This is the best beard trimmer I have ever owned, and I've owned a few. (I've always had a full beard since I started college decades ago.) The trimmer design is brilliant, and can trim close cut to fairly long beards. --- A precision clipper sits at a 45° angle on the end. It works with a choice of 3 different height, sturdy plastic blade combs that fit into a blade mount on the trimmer that adjusts in 0.5 mm increments for 58 length settings (!). An dial encircles the trimmer that adjusts the comb mount setting up and down for a longer and shorter trims. The dial makes it quick and easy to adjust it in your hand without changing or messing with the blade combs. Love it! The three combs are 1 to 10 mm (stubble short to medium short), 11 to 20 mm (medium), and 21 to 30 mm (long, to about 1-1/8 inches) beards. --- I currently wear my beard at about 18 mm (5/8"), slightly shorter on the cheeks, and a bit less directly under my nose. --- There also is a 4th attachment that can be used to trim around the mouth, or cut in shapes. --- The trimmer can be used cordless or with the cord. A full charge takes one hour, but the battery holds the charge so well, I haven't had to recharge mine in more than six weeks. The trimmer also can be plugged into a wall with 100 to 240 volt current (U.S. 115/120v, Brazil & Mexico 127v, France & EU 230v, Japan 100v, etc.) so if you travel widely, like I do, you can charge it anywhere with a simple adapter plug. --- Plus, it is really solid and quiet, which reflects on how well it is built. --- The trimmer can be cleaned with water, but I use a small can of compressed air to clean it out. --- This trimmer is a great choice for most guys. Get it!

I bought the ER-GB80-S to trim my beard. COST: At $75 these were on the higher end of the budget for something like trimmers. Outside of the adjustability, I went for these because of the smaller, fine trimming blade built in. QUALITY: For as nice as it looks it is quite light. This is nice when spending time trimming, but takes away from the feel of high quality. It is comfortable to hold as a mix of plastic and rubber for grip. The attachments, height adjustments, and blade all hold into place tight. USE: Here is where I started to have problems. This trimmer is rather large and it was difficult to change my grip to get both sides of my face, go up and down, etc. The blade keeps snagging in my beard and makes light or detailed trims difficult. As I run the blade through my beard, I can feel it snagging and pulling hair rather than trimming it. This has resulted in some uneven trims when I am just trying to take a bit off without the guards. I am hoping that this issue resolves itself as I wear it in, but it has been 4 or 5 trims and I am still snagging... The ability to wash the blade off is really nice and the smaller detail blade is awesome for my mustache. SUMMARY: So much about these trimmers are nice and I could see why the price was $75. However the struggle to complete its main function is greatly disappointing. If you have a fine or soft beard you will probably like this trimmer. If you have a rough, bushy, or course beard you might want to keep looking.

Fantastic trimmer. I’ve used it exclusively as a beard trimmer since I bought it. When I bought it in January 2021, I got it for $20. It has been well worth the $20! The battery definitely dies faster 4.5 years later than it did when I first got it, but I’ll live with that! I can not believe it is basically $80 on sale. If you can pick it up cheaper, definitely do! I’ve had it 4.5 years and ZERO issues. Gonna run this thing into the ground!
