I wanted a brass nut. I was surprised to find nobody selling plain brass blanks. One of the reasons for changing the nut on a guitar might be to get the string slots just how you want them. So why do they even bother providing them or polishing it all up? As it happens, this was tall enough to file the top down to remove the guide slots.Anyway, it's a decent brass that files and polishes up ok. It is actually cheaper to get one of these and less wasteful than buying brass strip or section- unless you want a lot of them.If you want plain blank nuts, Bone seems to be the only option. I prefer brass and don't think it makes open strings especially bright.

This brass nut looks good on a guitar and gives a nice edge to the sound.No problems with fitting.

Unless you've got a string butler installed or something like it you'll definitely need some precision files to get the strings to stay in their slots. I figured that's a given with any replacement, requires a little elbowgrease after you get it. Measures up perfectly, no imperfections, works for me!

This brass nut added so much to the sound of my guitar; I am truly impressed! First, I had bought a few dollar cheaper nut that turned out to be so poorly made I considered it a factory reject; it would have taken hours of work with luthier files to fix. This nut has: great tolerances, good string slots, the right height, and easily polished!
