The Secret of the Yoga Sutra: Samadhi Pada

A masterful work, not for the casual reader.
A masterful work not for the casual reader due to a lot of Sanskrit terminology. The Sanskrit is introduced and then used rather freely without reminding the reader of definition. This is done in a cumulative fashion so as the reader progresses through the chapters it is necessary to go back and reference terminology. Taking notes on the frequently used Sanskrit terms on a sheet of paper which can be used as a bookmark is helpful.

A very general and informative review. Somewhat ease filled comprehension for the trove of Yoga Education Teachings and learnings in abundance. Wonderful ways to weave deep understanding into the scholarly and timeless lessons of the yogis. Deep thanks.

It is concentrated information and it is good to read it more than once
This interpretation of Patanjalis Yoga Sutras is primarily for advanced practitioners and/or students of Yoga, and it has extremely beneficial practices for anyone sincerely seeking to advance their practice......It is concentrated information and it is good to read it more than once.....I've read it three times, and I will continue to read it over and over again !

Clear your mind of other distractions before reading
Studying the Sutra's with my yoga instructor and a group of women. The book is very deep, not sure I would understand it without the help of others

Yoga Sutras
For those interested in the yoga sutras and want to deepen their holistic yoga knowledge and practice. Great go to if someone cites a sutra and you want to know /understand more. I never feel overwhelmed by this book as I can dip in and out taking one sutra at a time. I find I can reflect on what I have read easily as the explanations speak to me in a way that makes sense. NB this book does not cover all the yoga sutras of Patanjali; it is just the first verses 1:1 to 1:55. There is a second book published to covering the second verses and presume the others will follow in due course. Don't know why this book isn't more easily found when searching on Amazon for "Yoga Sutras" or "Patanjali Yoga Sutras" but if you do find this book I would highly recommend.

Best translation ever
This is the best translation and interpretation I have ever read. Direct, simple to understand, a real mind opener. Also best breakkdown of the meaning of the original sanskrit text.

Very concise and simple to understand guide
By far the most comprehensive book on Patanjeli's Sutras I have read. This book opened the doors and thus allowed me to have an understanding of Yoga, after reading other very confusing authors. Mr Tigunait offers a very concise yet and detailed interpretations. I recommend this book and I look forward to read Sadhana Pada by the same author.
