Vizio S4251w-B4 Soundbar Remote Control- 0980-0306-1070 XRS500

Replaced my aged original remote and it was even better than the original because the shortcut buttons were better suited to my needs. I had it for two weeks before my TV totally died. Oh well. At least the remote was good quality for the short time I was able to use it and was inexpensive.

Sub par quality product that ceased functioning just before the 3 month mark. Would not recommend.

This remote controls our surround sound system and we love it. We had one that came with our system but after 10 years it broke. It being small and having little kids around can definitely make that happen. Thankfully this remote is available and perfect as the exact replacement! It connected to our current system perfectly and works without a flaw!

Updated 09/22/18:After disassemble it and checked the connections, i figured out what was wrong with the unit: nothing. I was using rechargeable batteries and they provided 1.3v, and that wasn't enough to properly drive the lcd display. After using alkaline batteries the remote's display worked perfectly.Original post:The display in this remote is its most important piece, since its the only way to setup the soundbar, but my unit was not displaying anything in the display. The IR was working, but it doesn't show up anything. I figure out that the display is not properly soldered/attached to the mainboard, and if you press it hard with your thumb, you can make it work in the pressed area while you hold it. I managed to navigate the menu this way, but obviously it is defective. And based on other reviews, this is a common flaw from this provider.

We had a horrible time getting the back off to install the batteries. I finally got it opened by pushing from the very end of the remote. The view window seems worthless, being so darned dark it can hardly be read. Could use an instruction manual for the diverse settings available. But it works to turn the sound bar on and off. And it automatically selected input after we plugged it in. All we needed with our V2 bar.
