Using with cheap chinese stick welder
Thought I would give stick welding a try after getting fair results with flux core MIG. The rods that came with the stick welder were J422 which I think is same as 6013. They work pretty good and I bought some 6013 rods and they seem to be the same.

Fine, precise, low amp welding rod
I learned about welding a lot time ago. Didn't even realize there were different type of steel welding rods - only big and small. Recently, I needed to fix a brace on a riding lawnmower, so I bought a low end adjustable stick welder. Bought 6011, 6013, and 7024 rods. Played around with the different rods and amps and came to some conclusions: 6011 left hardly to no slag, but was very hard to strike at low amps on thin metal, 6013 left TONS of slag, VERY easy to strike, but needed the right balance of bonding the pieces and burning through. 7024 was a bigger version of 6011.The metal I had just wasn't big enough to take the security of 6011 welds and was a frustrating mess with 6013.Then I found these smaller 6013 rods on Amazon. They are the same easy to strike 6013-type, but can be used at a lower amperage. I've used them successfully down to 30 amps. I wouldn't weld huge pieces with it, but they turned out great in welding light gauged metals and are great at making artwork type things. They are of course very small in diameter, but the same length as the other rods. You will burn through them quicker due to the less metal in the middle.Highly recommended. Now, looking for 6011 in the same diameter.
