Ace Martial Arts Supply Sharp and Lightweight Kama Set

These were bought for practicing kama kata in the dojo and are lightweight and sturdy. The blades are extremely sharp and these are very usable garden implements if you wish to use them that way. As these were bought for practice around others I ground the edge down some to dull them and slightly rounded the points to make them safer. It would be a simple matter to sharpen them back if need be. The wood handles are smooth but basically unfinished, so I lightly sanded them and wiped them with finish to protect them. Because of the extra work I put into them to "pretty" them up I am withholding one star, but they are perfectly usable as is. Update: If you decide to dull these to make them safer be sure to really grind the edge down to flatten it and make sure there are no sharp burrs or edges from the grinding or they will still cut you. Better yet, tape or cover the edge. ER and 7 stitches...

I just wanted a cheap pair to practice with, They were good for the price. The pins were just nails that went only halfway through the handle. And the handle was cut much more than needed which weakens the blade/handle junction point. So, I pulled the 'pins' out, drilled all the way through the handle and added actual pins. Filled the cut that was too long woth epoxy. Then wrapped the handles and lacquered them to strengthen.

These things are very sharp, please don't buy them for younger children. Not complaining to anyone about them being sharp, just warning other parents out there who might be thinking about getting them for their children. They're not toys, trust me they are razor sharp. My son is 14 and he's very careful and loves them, so 5 stars from me.

We bought these for use in practicing kama katas in our kobudo training. I was surprised by how sharp they arrive. They are super light weight and that will make them nice for long sessions of practice. I wouldn't subject them to fighting techniques versus a bo staff as we do with some other pairs we own that have longer tangs. We are discussing buying some for use in the garden as they look like they'd be great for weeding.

This kama set is extremely sharp out of the box. I shaved a section of my right calf clean with one of these, most certainly razor sharp if not sharper. My advice to anyone who unsheathes these is to be extremely careful, they are not toys. These are also highly functional, super light weight allows for easy practice and combination delivery. The quality and the price cant be beaten, along with the quick delivery makes for a great buy. These are also decorative, i have them mounted on the wall in my room. 5 stars for sure.

These Kama Sickles are a great value. The blades are sturdy and sharp as heck. The fact that I'm handling such dangerous blades helps me focus and maintain a precise concentration when I do my Okinawan weapons kata. Not a bad thing. I didn't give them 5 stars because one of the blades was just a bit wobbly. I fixed it. Now it's perfect.

Very light weight. Blades are thin as razors and look like they were overheated when sharpened. Fine for gardening, cutting grass and such but a missed stroke caused me to hit a 3/8 diameter branch and it rolled the edge to the point its not worth the time to fix it. I actually like them just keep in mind they are very light and blades are thin.

Very sharp and well built. I made a leather case for them. They need something to store them/cover the blades because they are nicely sharpened.
