An amazing trimmer for little money.
Why I Need This: I've been shaving with Norelco electric razors for years. And while I like the way they shave, their built-in pop-up trimmer leaves something to be desired. I don't have a beard. But I do have a mustache and sideburns that need to be trimmed. It's not that that Norelco's pop-up trimmer doesn't work. But in order to get the desired results, I have to keep going over the same area multiple times. I thought to myself, if only I could find an inexpensive trimmer that would do the job quickly and easily. Tada! Wahl to the rescue! The Performance: All I can say is wow. For fifteen bucks this little trimmer is amazing. I was all set to buy something a lot more expensive. I'm glad I didn't. First of all, I don't need or want a trimmer for hair in my nose and ears (I prefer scissors and tweezers for that). Secondly, I have no use for a dozen different attachments to trim the hair on my head (my barber would kill me). And thirdly, I'm not the sort of guy who likes to manscape my manly parts, or even think of shaving off my treasure trail (look it up if I lost you). The Cutting Mechanism: Surprisingly for the money, the blade mechanism on this trimmer is not a flimsy piece of stamped metal. The base plate is thick, and it's "precision ground" per Wahl. I believe it. And unlike the crappy trimmer on my Norelco razor, this trimmer contains a lot of closely spaced teeth. The end result is that I can set the length of my sideburns and trim my mustache in about 1/3 the time.Power Requirements: This trimmer does not work or come with a cord. Nor does it have a built-in rechargeable battery. Nor does it come with any batteries at all. It uses two (2) AA batteries that you'll have to supply yourself. You can power it using regular alkaline batteries. But I already have a battery charger and a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries, so that's what I use.Warranty: The warranty on this trimmer is three years. But considering the cheap price, it may not even be worth the cost of postage to return it to Wahl if it quits working.Maintenance: This trimmer is not waterproof. Don't use it in the shower, or use water to clean it. Use the included brush to brush away unwanted hairs in the cutting mechanism. Wahl includes a little bottle of oil. You're supposed to apply a few drops to the cutting mechanism every month.Country of Origin: Unlike some Wahl products that were made in the USA, this trimmer was made in Vietnam.Closing Comments: It's inexpensive, and it works very well for my needs. I didn't mention it earlier, but the shape of this trimmer is easy to hold. I'm very pleased with this product.

Great little facial hair trimmer
This is a great, inexpensive shaver that works well for trimming your facial hair. I really like the fact that it runs on batteries, making it easy for travel without having to worry about a cord.

Pretty good trimmer but for minor glitches
This product was to be used outside of US. So all those trimmers with 110v chargers were out of contention. Now the problem is that nowhere does Wahl mentions the input rating for it's trimmers. I called up their office and after a couple of tries and a voice message later a lady called me back. She put me on hold and went out searching for the information. Finally it turned out that the Wahl trimmers sold in US can only be used within US, unless of course you wish to buy a bulky step down converter. How thoughtful Wahl! Don't people in US travel out of the country? Why can't your chargers be made to operate within a range of voltage like the laptops and so many other electrical and electronic equipments do?Thus the available choices reduced to a few battery operated ones only. And this one appeared to be the most promising from the various reviews on the Net. So I went ahead and ordered one on Amazon. It arrived well in time and was well packed. About the product, I think it is pretty good by itself. Here are my observations,What you will like***************-- Pretty ergonomic in terms of the grip.-- Sound is not as loud as some people say it is. Most trimmers and electric razors make similar or even higher noise in my opinion.-- It does not grasp a tuft of hair or pulls on it the way some people said it does. In fact it works pretty smooth. Ensure though to have dry beard when you run this trimmer.-- Comes with different guides which makes it easy to find the one right for you. What you will not like*******************-- It looks to me like the trimmer head is not made out of stainless steel. If you get it wet you may even have orange rust marks on it. My one seems to have come with one such blemish and it refuses to go away.-- The guides are made out of pretty flimsy plastic. At least twice they fell off from the trimmer while in use because they do not grip the trimmer head very securely.-- The base/stand is pretty useless in my opinion. It has lots of cuts and crevices but many can't fit in any of the attachments provided in the pack. You will still be left with some attachments for which there is no space in the base.-- The manual, if you can call that multiple folded pamphlet so, is pretty flimsy. A clear documentation on the usage of the equipment and the attachments is required but is sorely missing in the pack.So there are no major deal breakers as such. All in all I will say it is a pretty nifty little device that comes cheap and works well once you get a hang of it.

Wonderful beard trimmer for even better price!!!
So I read a lot of the reviews before I bought this beard trimmer, and I want to address some of the complaints:-Yes, the packaging was hard to get into. But...I'm grateful it was thick and rigid because it was shipping in one of the Amazon bags, and if not for the hard plastic clamshell packaging, the thing would have gotten smashed. Just use a sharp knife/pair of scissors and you'll be fine.-Yes, the trimmer is "loud". But I'm not sure what anyone else was expecting from a $15 trimmer. It's not deafeningly loud-nothing more than you would hear at your local barber shop.-Yes, it's not fancy or has a bunch of different settings or all the bells and whistles. However, it's a $15 trimmer, and it sure as heck gets the job done.Admittingly, I have only used it once so far since I got it. But it ran like a champ, cut my unwanted facial hair down closer than my big Wahl clippers ever did, and was comfortable on my face without a guard. I give a 10/10, would recommend.
