Reef Octopus Classic 202-S Protein Skimmer

I upgraded from an older version and I am very happy that I did. This one is so much easier to clean. It is easier to set up, and works very well. I have it in a sump under a 150 gal reef, medium stocked fish and it does the job well. The silencer is a much better design and quite. It has a plug adapter to hook the collection cup to so you can drain into a bucket. It is easy to put together. I love that the pump is inside the tube now, my old one was on the outside and took up a lot of room, it was a pain to get in and out of the sump. If I would have known this design was out I would have upgraded a long time ago.

At first this thing was only making lots of bubbles and collecting just water. This went on for most of the day so I just pulled out the plug and let it drain. By the end of the day the bubbles were getting larger and it was collecting solid waste. It has continued to be an excellent choice for my 150 gallon reef tank. The water is so clear!! Great product!It is now June 15, 2020 and this thing just quit making bubbles altogether. What the heck??

Amazing! Worth every cent.*Update: 06/09/19I've had the skimmer running for about 2 weeks now in my 155 Bow. I am very impressed how well this skimmer works. It's like night and day. My corals look very healthy. The skimmer has a large foot print (Pic is in 55gal sump) so adequate room in your sump and stand is advised.5/5, hands down best skimmer I've owned.

This skimmer works as intended and does a good job. The placement of one of the screws that holds the body to the base is annoying, as it is right under the venturi. Also, better set up, use, and tuning instructions would not go amiss. Thankfully there are plenty of people willing to share their expertise on YouTube and Facebook!

Very nice quality. I'm using this in a 180g reef tank. Just fish right now. Easy to setup and run. The instructions are not very good in terms of placement in the sump and water levels. I went back and forth with their support for a while. The sump water level for mine is just under the red valve adjustment knob. In other words, the knob is just above sump water. I have it tuned so the water level inside the skimmer is right where the main body starts to narrow. I had to fashion a plastic stand for it to sit on. Make sure you take note of the size of this, both height wise and the base itself, and make sure you have the room for it. For the first few days, it took a lot of stuff out of the water. Since then, it's settled down. I clean it out about once a month now.

Using on 105 gallon reef tank, pulling lots of gunk out of tank. Solid build and easy to setup. It is loud but this is not a problem for me since my tank is "in wall" and the noise is masked within my fish room.

Excellent Skimmer. Pulls a lot of skimate from the water. Well worth the money
