My old starter got heat soaked and would need to cool for 30 minutes or so after a decent drive
1) make sur eyou get the right bolt pattern for your fly wheel! 2) make sure you have clearance: this fit next to my headman headers on my 350 sbc 1988 trans am. The flexible clocking options make this a sure fit if there is room at all. My old starter got heat soaked and would need to cool for 30 minutes or so after a decent drive. It had heat wrap on it which kept it cooler longer, but also hotter longer and was a pain in the butt! I did not wrap this starter and it has fired up my engine EVERY time with NO HESITATION. I drove by car up a 50 mile section of interstate mountain pass at let's say a "spirited" pace, parked it, turned it off, counted to 10, and fired it right back up. I am now confident tha tI can take my car on any length drive and it will start.

Fit my sbc perfect! Installation a breeze and sluggish starting with a high compression (11:1) motor was no longer. This mini starter is a beast!

perfect fit, but ....
I bought this starter because I was experiencing a heat soak problem (FL) on my 1936 ford, LT1 with hugger headers. Even though the price was high, I bought it. Installation was straight forward, paying close attention to the directions on shims, backlash, and the "over tighting" warning in the directions and the warning label on the starter. Drove the car and was still experiencing a heat soak problem. I went to remove the starter but the small wire connection nut would not loosen. My Bad! I must have over tighten the nut the first time, even though I was very careful. When I tried again, the plastic insulator rotate a little bit even though I tried to hold it and then the insulator and stud just fell out of the starter. Great! $200 shot! I worked for DOD contractor for 30 years in Mfg/electronic and test and I have to say the solder job on the connector looked like my 6 year old grandson did it. Also noticed that the insulator was not keyed into the housing or secured in anyway, relying on the 2 soldered wires to prevent the connector from turning during install/removal, breaking the wires. Just a gob of solder on the connector and 2 wires. I know, I saw the dyno sheet and it worked perfect. Pics show it "as found" after it dropped out of starter, no rework was performed at this point. Remove starter, remover cover and re-solder the connector/wires. Re-installed. Fixed my heat soak problem. Initially, did I damage the solder connection the first time by over tighting? Maybe. Was it a cold solder joint that still caused mu heat soak problem? Maybe. Be careful!

Great starter!
The best sbc starter I've ever had. Used on a 3rd gen camaro drag car with close fitting headers, 12.5:1 compression, locked out distributor. Rear mounted battery and factory starter would barely turn the motor when hot. This fires the motor right up. Well worth the money.

F-in awesome
Somebody should have thought about this year's ago. The adjustments you can make are unbelievable. I had to machine a little off the mounting block to matte with the flex plate but the added step made all the difference in the world. The added feature of taking the spacer out got me to the correct gap between the pinion gear and flex plate. Unbelievable awesome. My street rod starts so well and I can't believe how quiet it is.

Power master chevy starter
Works wonders on my BBC. Easy and light weight compared to the GM original starter. The only bad thing these starters are not cheap.

Awesome starter, cranks engine over way better than stock starter. No heat soak issues. Car is a 1987 Iroc Z with a 5.7L engine and shorty headers

Easy to install starter seems ok waiting for the warm weather to come hoping this starter will solve the heat soak. Will change my rating in the future
