The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

A must have.

In reading this I was worried that Douglas Adams may not live up to the first amazing book of this series, but he did, and more.I am in awe of how Adams works language. It's just a joy to read. I didn't stop laughing nearly the entire time reading this. So many random moments like lifts that talk back, mistakes with contraception and time machines and other random, random things.The ending just kinda fizzled off and left me wanting to know what happens next - not so much a cliff hanger but definitely not a proper "finish".My only fault with this book is that I remember absolutely no names of anything as they are all so random and complicated that it boggles my mind to even pronounce and spell them never mind actually recall them (Apart from Marvin, Arthur, Trillian & Ford - of course!)

Brilliant...Just Brilliant!Witty, sharp & outrageously funny, a total pleasure from start to finish, please read this if you like to laugh.Adams never bettered the first two hitch-hiker novels; although his later work is interesting in parts, rereading the first two books, after many years, reminded me just how good they were.His early death was such a loss for those who enjoy books about ideas which are also actually funny.

I think this book does not meet the same iconic standard as the first book in the series. Whilst it retains the same witty humour and captivating content, I feel as if the plot has less substance and the content becomes more repetitive.

Written by a genius, started as a radio show, then spawned a TV show, and then became the second greatest book ever written. Just buy it. Your life will be better, you'll suddenly be aware of all the jokes that have gone over your head you by all your life.

Amazing read. Adams delivers a richer story than the first which Is so impressive because the first is so good. The paper is nice and its a very nifty size, perfect for taking around in a bag but personally I'm not a huge fan of the art work for the cover for this edition although it doesnt look bad.

This book continues to be rife with Douglas Adams' signature humor. The restaurant scenes are inventive, if a little disturbing. Marvin the Paranoid Android is back and has his moment in the sun. Ford and the others continue to romp across the universe having adventures. All in all, a fun continuation of the series.
