This book has really easy to follow step by step instructions, illustrated with great photography at each stage.Each project has useful hints and tips on every page.Simple Applique has some great applique drawings that are charming, at the back of the book, which can be easily traced onto bondaweb.It is perfectly set out and the projects are very cute, useful and are great for both beginners and experienced machinists alike.This book is an ideal place to start for anyone just beginning their sewing journey, as there are a few very simple projects to begin with and although the book is called Weekend Makes, most of the projects can be completed in an afternoon. In fact, the sewing case in my photos, which I made using Janet's pencil case instructions, took me only 1 hour and 8 minutes. I consider myself to be an intermediate machinist. It just proves how adaptive the designs are and how you can easily customise these great projects. In this book, Janet Goddard tells you which equipment you need for each project, how much of each fabric to use , as well as plenty of other great advice and tips.From start to finish she guides you through the steps of your project to ensure a beautiful and professional looking finish.Applique is a very useful craft that makes a huge difference to how your projects look when finished. I find it very rewarding and therapeutic.Peg bags, pencil cases, tablet covers, cushions and other useful home furnishing items are included to make for either yourself or as a gift for someone else. Each completed project is beautifully illustrated using excellent photography on lovely glossy pages.For my next project from Janet's book, I will be making the tablet case. I will post a picture or two when I have completed it.I highly recommend this useful book. Buy it, you definitely won't be disappointed.Updated photos added 27/09/20 my version of the tablet case in Janet's book. Took me approx 4 hours including cutting fabric and the quilting feature.
