Order size up. Great protection in crash and surprisingly great to climb with
I order a small in most things and ordered a size up to medium per other reviews. Initially thought these were way too bulky but did a two hour ride with them up and really didn't even remember they were there. Took a hard fall on a wet root drop first ride out and these offered complete protection on my knees. Wish I bought these sooner!

Exactly what I needed
I never liked to wear knee pads on a regular basis because they were uncomfortable and would end up sliding down my knee after a little while. When I did wear them, it was for aggressive riding in chunky and fast trails where the risk of injury was high and I would immediately take them off for the climb or even for the flats.Picking when to wear protection is like predicting when you're going to fall. It doesn't work. After my last wipeout that left my knees oozing for a few weeks, I swore that I would make wearing knee pads on every ride mandatory. In order to do this I had to find a pair that were comfortable to pedal in and of course provides good protection for the front of my knees and also the sides.I tried POC VPD2.0, which were really tight and bulky. I moved on to POC VPD air, which were highly rated but irritated the back of my knees. I tried multiple Alpinestars pads in different cuts and Sam Hill pads as well. They all went back until I found the Fox Launch D30 pads. The fit was tight at first, but I was impressed with the padding protection while remaining somewhat slim. The cutout behind the knee allows your knee to flex without pinching and bunching up. The straps actually work and do a great job at keeping things in place for the duration of my ride.As luck would have it, I recently crashed on a steep DH section and took a direct hit to the knees and walked away unscathed. I had scratches and bruises above and below the pads, but no damage at all to my knees. Amazing!!I highly recommend these pads. However, I would caution you to avoid sticking your fingers in the opening behind the knee to help pull them on or off. Yes, it's really tempting and convenient to do so, but it will tear the stitching if you do. If you only tug on them from the top or bottom strap areas you will be fine.

Great choice
It fits great and gives a safer feeling. Doesn't move or loosen while riding. Weight is good. Breathabilty is acceptable. I used to wear the ixs and they were more breathable but they got loose and fall al the time.

What is your body worth?
The Fox D30 saved my wife’s knee! She took a good spill on one of our local blue trails and the Fox knee pads made it best case scenario for us. She took a direct hit on her knee and without proper protection she would have seriously damaged her leg. She had a bruise running the length of her shin and some soreness for a week but had her unprotected knee struck the tree, well you can imagine. I was so very happy we purchased her Fox protection gear and thankfully she was wearing it!

Like the elbow pads, these run hot
On climbs I will wear them around my ankles until the descents. They can get hot just like the elbow pads and aren’t very breathable. Other than that they are comfortable fitting and offer great protection. Run small so size up, 4/5!

The stitching came loose after the first use
I recently bought these knee pads and the stitching came loose after the first use. I would not recommend this product. Poor quality.
