This book is amazing!
I really enjoyed reading his book and his 6 week meal plan with actual food that a family can eat and enjoy is brilliant! Not to mention the colossal job he did by providing recipes on his website so that you have years of options all with nutritional information and specifically organized for every category possible. Such as those suffering from GERDS, those that are Gluten Free etc. I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of time and energy his website took for him to create and adapt for so many different medical situations. Bravo Dr. Harlan! Thank you for caring so much about your patients and people that you would invest so much energy in helping others. A true doctor.

Idea behind this...brilliant! Execution.....frustrating!
So the theory and formula behind this makes so much sense. Even the first week plan. All the meals sound delicious and I think that I can follow this to help me in my journey. However, the actual layout and execution of the book is frustrating. I did buy the Kindle version, so I can jump around relatively easily, however, in order to make this work for me and my family, I'm basically making a new book, set up the way I want it and in a binder. And actually I'm not really using the book (other than the formulas for each meal). I'm pulling recipes from his website. Now that's a lot of work, that I should have expected from the book itself.

Finallly an easier way to Weight Loss
Like the ideal of a simple way of losing weight, taking the guess work out of how to plan a meal from a sample diet in other books to this one just laying out the guidelines and telling you what to eat. You can also get more easy simple recipes on drgourmet.com. Since the purchase I've lost 8 lbs.

So much better than the low carb diets out now. These recipes are not only very nutritious, they are also delicious!!
You just have to pick up a copy of this book!!! It got me motivated to think about what I was eating and then I started trying some recipes. All, so far, have been delicious. If you want to get an idea, visit Dr.Gourmet.com He reviews the usual frozen diet entrees which I have really enjoyed reading. He points out sodium counts, fiber, what is good, what is not so tasty etc. This is a very flexible plan and is not a starvation, quick weight loss program where you can easily gain back the weight. Your family will enjoy the meals even if not dieting.I think this book needs to be at the top of the list!!!

Old Book from 2011. Author stopped supporting in 2017. Wait for it.
I just purchased this book, Aug 2024, and began reading immediately. The book says I can download the recipes and grocery list online but the website for this book no longer exists. I was redirected to another website with diet information and did find the menu items but not a convenient grocery list.I do plan to continue reading the book and following the suggested menu and I will sort out the grocery list on my own. For now the one star is for my experience so far but if the book and it’s menu help me lose the weight I need to then I will return and add stars accordingly. Give me a couple months to see results.

This book is exactly what my husband and I needed, we had been trying to lose weight for years and we just could not lose it! We tried other diets and exercising but we weren't getting anywhere. So we finally just chose this out of desperation. This book has great helpful information on eating and tells you exactly what to eat for 6 weeks. He highly emphasizes making all your meals from scratch but if you don't have time to do that he gives restaurant or lean cuisine alternatives which really helped. In four months my husband lost 30 pounds and I lost 15. We are still following the diet plan but choosing our own dinner recipes now with his calorie and health information and are continuing to lose weight consistently. I also have hypoglycemia which would give me dizzy spells and fatigue every day and that has almost been non existent since we started this. Of course be prepared to feel low energy at first with the lower calorie intake but it will eventually give you more energy and motivation and give you the weight loss results you want. I am so thankful we found this as I was going into depression not being able to lose weight. This book is just what we needed and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is desperate to lose weight!

Best Meal Planning Book
This is one of the best books I've ever bought. I love how the food is so easy to cook. It's food that my family will eat. I've shared this with so many people. I look forward to grocery shopping and meal planning. The best part, the first week I lost 4 pounds. If you don't have a lot of time to menu plan; I HIGHLY recommend this book.

I heard the author being interviewed on public radio and liked what he had to say. The book was OK but wasn't what I expected.
