Works as Described
I purchased this to replace a front wheel bearing assembly (all one unit) on a '16 Subaru Impreza. After trying to work out the assembly from the steering knuckle with a dead blow, rust penetrant, torch, and 2' pry bar for several hours without much success, I relented and bought this tool. All I have to say is 'Wow'! I was concerned about the 5lb weight not being sufficient due to my struggle but all it took was about 10 blows and the hub ripped straight out of the bearing assembly. Bear in mind that I am an average sized adult male with average strength. In my case, the assembly was still rusted to the knuckle so I attached this straight onto the assembly in hopes that it would do the job. I was initially very concerned that I was SOL with an assembly that refused to loosen given the above but this tool ripped the assembly clean from the knuckle in ~10 blows as well. The mating surface between the knuckle and the assembly was rusted so heavily that I had to hammer the new assembly in. Yet, this thing got it out with relative ease. I can't speak for larger vehicles but this thing saved my rear end in a pinch. As the saying goes - you don't need a tool until you need it! As an aside, the kit comes with a host of different pullers to attach so its usefulness should extend well beyond hubs and bearing assemblies (see pics). OTC is generally a high-quality tool maker and the 4579 is no exception. If you need a slide hammer (or you're an avid shade tree mechanic), I would definitely recommend this kit. The case is fairly rugged as one would expect with each attachment in the kit fitting snugly in the case. My only gripe is that there appear to be three small nuts without a proper storage location so they tend to rattle around when carrying the case. That is my only gripe. That and my inability to stop saying 'Dat slide hamma'. Naturally, the tool's effectiveness will depend on the use/application but in my case, I wish I had purchased this sooner so my car didn't have to stay on jackstands for several days! Well worth it if you need (or anticipate) needing it! Yes, similar devices can be had from Harbor Freight for cheaper but IMHO, if you're going to be slamming metal components with all your strength, you might as well get a quality tool. Don't forget your eye protection and molybdenum grease to protect those threads. Happy slamming!

Great slide hammer
Yay! I finally got to use my slide hammer. I've had this tool for a few months but never had the need to use it until recently when I was replacing a wheel bearing on a friend's Toyota Sienna minivan. One firm pull on this slide hammer and the hub bearing assembly came out with no problems. I'm not a professional mechanic, but I like to pretend I am. So that means I work on my own cars as well as friends. That also means I buy tools that may not get used very often (like this slide hammer and my cotton-candy tri-flex twin-tipped crescent spanner gauge). I'm a firm believer that having the right tool for the job can mean the difference between a pleasant wrench turning experience or not being able to complete a project and slipping into deep depression and swearing off working on cars for the rest of your life. This slide hammer is one of those tools. It comes with all sorts of attachments and adapters and gizmos and thing-a-bobs to pull all sorts of stubborn things that don't want to move. It's got enough heft on the slide to turn non-moving things into moving things. Grab this tool, sit back, and enjoy a legendary battle against an unstoppable force and an immovable object. For a guy like me, this is all the slide hammer I need. There are some other kits out there that have a lot more attachments that also have more dollar signs attached to them. If you're familiar with slide hammers, then you'll probably recognize the attachments: two wheel hub adapters (a tall and stubby), a screw for pulling dents from fenders, a small "claw" that can be used to pull against the edge of things, a three-jaw puller, a two-jaw puller and a vice-grip adapter. As infrequently as I'll be using it, this one fits the bill nicely. I did enough research and reading of other people's reviews (some who ARE real mechanics) to learn that OTC is a trusted name when it comes to tools, so I'm happy with my purchase. Everything fits nicely in the case and helps keep all those bits and pieces from getting lost.

Great product, very complete set!
Being a former auto tech, OTC products are a go-to for me. The company makes great quality tools that work great and outlast many big-name competitors at a fraction of the price! I recently had to replace rear wheel seals and bearings on an 1985 land cruiser and this was an invaluable asset. The fit and finish of the tool is perfect, the steel is stout (not cheap chinesium alloy) and it's straight forward & easy to use. This kit has everything you'll need for 95% of jobs requiring a slide hammer. The only thing I don't like is I purchased this same kit back in 2018 for about $100.⁰⁰, it was painful getting the same exact item for 2x the price (my previous kit was stolen :( You can't go wrong with this one, buy with confidence

Really nice set... great value
I bought this set after looking at every puller on amazon. Yup, bought one on the higher end and I am very happy I did. First job was 2 strikes and it was off. Set was put away and I smiled as I snapped the case shut. Nice assortment, I used the screw that substitutes for the adjustment screw in my vice grips. This allows you to use your vice grips to grab the object and then use the slide hammer for power. when I bought this, I also bought some 5/8-18 coupling nuts... like these https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00L1L6E8Y/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_W0FZTCME9W4DFHF8A52X?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I figured I could weld anything to the end of them and then attach to the puller. I haven't used them yet... but tossed in the toolbox for the time.

Good tool set
I have worked with this product set before and finally bought it to yank a hub out on a Lexus to change the wheel bearing. The yoke was really seized up and even though I wasn't able to hammer it out this time, it does have many applications. The tool came in perfect.

Great product - misleading company
Firstly, this slide hammer/bearing puller set is quite well made. I haven't had the pleasure of using any other brands, but I'm very satisfied with the finish and quality of the tools. Everything that screws onto the slide hammer shaft fits very well, with no excess slop or rough threads. That's important to me, and also a pretty good indicator of quality control. The cone attachment that guides the bearing puller jaws could probably benefit from a steeper cone angle. What I mean by this, is that it's somewhat difficult to adjust the jaws when they're getting snug against the bearing, but not quite snug enough. Jiggling the jaws and tightening them against the cone worked, and it's only a small nitpick, and I'm not knocking any points off there. What I _am_ knocking points off for is the company's claims to the origin of manufacture. Now, the Amazon product description doesn't state anywhere where the tools were made, so I wasn't exactly expecting them to be made in the USA. When I received the tools though, the packaging states MADE IN USA, and I was happy to see that! Then I looked a little closer, and on the molded tool box, it states Made in Taiwan. What the hell? I've uploaded a picture to the item photo gallery, and you can see for yourself. It may be that the white cardboard shell was made in the US, and everything else was made in Taiwan, but it seems very misleading to me. I've seen other manufacturers doing this too, and it sucks. I don't care where a company makes their stuff, as long as it's clearly labeled, and they live up to that claim. When a company advertises it's product being made in the US, it had better damned well be made here. Anything else is just plain lying to the customer. All said, I'm happy with the purchase of this set, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile bearing puller/slide hammer set. I used it to pull bearing races out of my motorcycle, and it worked beautifully!

No small tool, good and beefy for real work
Just got this tonight, so I don’t have long experience with it, but so far am really pleased. When shopping for a puller, I liked the many features of this one and looked and looked to get specs on its claw dimensions, but found almost nothing. A 4” pulley needed to come off my mower deck, and I ultimately ordered this tool in the hope it would be big enough. It was, and the rather snug pulley slid all the way off without trouble. Some claw dimensions in case it helps you: Max claw diameter is roughly 7-1/2” (1-5/8” depth to the press screw’s tip at that spread with just a couple thread turns grabbing on the 3-way claw; you’d get about 2-1/8” clearance if pulling with the slide hammer). At its max reach, the claws can reach up to about 3” deep to the press screw tip, or 3-1/2” if slide hammering. Some other pictures of all the tools in the box are provided here alongside a tape measure so you can estimate sizes of other tools in this kit that you may be interested in. I’m happy, and expect to get a lot of use out of this puller set for many years to come.

Great Tool
Came in well packaged 2 days before expected date. great Tool, with all the attachments, well crafted and of good quality. used it the first time to pull a front bearing, took 13 slides to pull the bearing out, not hard at all. Downfall is the front bearing attachment holes are somewhat spread apart too far (for my VW Jetta hub holes) and when bolting your bolt is hitting the centre core of the attachment so the bolt cant be tighten down all the way, but if you tighten them evenly there will be enough pressure on the attachment to secure it solidly to the hub. Overall great tool for the money and will be a great addition to my tool crib. PS: it even has a nut with a bolt thread that will fit in a vise-grip so you can use it to fasten the vise grip on whatever you need pulled out and slam away.

Good piece of kit
Removed a stubborn hub with the slide hammer and used the 3 jaw puller. Worked very well, seems like a quality tool. Lots of attachments for different applications

Good quality...
The tool kit is well built and the parts seems to be of good quality. Unfortunately I think I need it a bigger slide hammer... this one was not able to even budge the hub... had to use the old bolt trick :(.
